Rate my cam timing

I've never done anything more than hold the belt on the teeth on one gear, work the tensioner with the other hand, then use my elbow to hold the belt and free up my hand to slip the belt on the other gear (while holding it in place with my 3rd hand). Somehow I have done it and gotten it right the first time like 4 out of the 5 times I had to do it over the last 4 or 5 months. Its magic. Im sure the crescent wrench and vice grip/c clamp idea is easier though. Have to account for the tensioner moving the belt though, which is a guessing game unless you've done it enough.

Anyways, it's not hard to get right the first time. What I do is just pull the valve cover, put a crescent wrench on each cam and then move the two crescent wrenches to get the cams indexed correctly, then C-clamp them to each other. Now they're both right and neither can move. Then just slip the belt on and you're done...
