Whadda ya say we try not to get in the habit of being down on innovation? I think we learn more that way. You don't learn anything if the only people you talk to do things exactly the same as you.
Miata2fast, good luck.

Saying that any form of carburetor is better than modern fuel injection is just ridiculous. I can appreciate people using carbs for.. the sake of using carbs, but in this application it's two steps back.
I get what you're saying, but I don't think this forum (overall) is against anything that can be proven to be more effective.

Thats all Im saying to, I know that set up can work well but injection is far better. And really once you understand everything easier to tune to, you dont have to stop and change any jets or power valves, or screw with idle mixture or accelerator pumps. I can just reach over to my lap top and Im done, driving or not.

I would be all over a sidedraft setup on my car..... actually, I wonder if anyone makes a manifold. I guess I could buy a flange and weld up a manifold. Already have a set of Mikuni 44's that would be right at home in my car. Of course that would be retarded as my car is daily driver, so never mind. I do love carbs though, even though they may be outdated, harder to tune and less fuel efficient. A screaming carb/ITB with injection is one of the best sounds on earth.

I like the look of the Weber's, and I do not have to fool with trying to get the fuel pressure down when I run nitrous. There is much more development on nitrous systems at 5-6 psi of fuel pressure than what is required to run fuel injection systems. Lower fuel pressure nitrous systems are much easier to tune.
If I had an IRTB set up, the most ideal would be a dry system, but that requires a high dollar ecu, with months of tuning development.

There is only one car that I know of that has gone faster than my car on the motor, in the quarter mile. That car is the Fuji Racing car with IRTB's. He went 3 tenths faster. That was before I installed the big valve and ported 99 cyl. head. I have not done testing with my current set up, but it is running, and feels much stronger than before.

Oh really. Do you know that for a fact?

Few or no other people have run the same or faster NOT because you're doing something super special or magical, BUT BECAUSE NO ONE EVEN TRIED. No one really cared to try, to be more specific.
I'm not trying to take away from your accomplishments, or flame you for doing what you are doing. Its your car, your project, and its great that you prefer carbs and nitrous over electronic fuel injection and forced induction, because its different and we get to see what it does and achieves.
Just don't keep repeating that or trying to rub it in our faces. There are no record holders for "fastest time with minimal mods" as far as I know. If there was, every person with just an intake, header, exhaust, and numerous other "minimal" mods would be out at the drag strip trying to run "fastest time with just an intake" "fastest time with just a header" etc.
Now don't get offended or whatever, just stop repeating the whole "fastest car with just this" bs.
Otherwise you have an interesting setup and I'm curious what it will accomplish
PS: mt.net is a bunch of very opinionated/******* kind of guys that tend to stick with whats proven to be best or effective. Deep down inside they're good guys though. Just a bit stubborn. People will not like what you're doing and voice their opinions. HOWEVER, if you go out and do some impressive **** with your car or make it extremely fast, they will eventually stop hating and actually give you props

18 psi, that is a pretty lame response.
I responded to a personal attack, and will always respond to a personal attack. My response is directed to the individuals making them.
By the way, if you think getting a normally aspirated car to go fast is easy, you go ahead and try it. It is not a minimal modification. It is a complete format, that is built around rules of the classes I am interested in competing in.
It took a lot of work and money to get that car to work, and I guarantee the race is on to see who will have the fastest car in every category of racing whether power adder or normally aspirated.
Someone will do it eventually, why not me?
Edit: I just saw your edit. I can handle the heat. Thank you.

I'm interested in your setup.
I don't know if I would have gone with carbs, and I'm not a big nitrous fan...but for your interests and your goals it's very cool.
Good luck, and good job handling the heat. I think a lot of it comes from it being easy to make claims on the internet, and even easier for people to misunderstand your intentions.

You're seriously saying you think your car would be faster with a properly set up carburetor versus fuel injection? Here, have a chance to rethink that. If your goal is what you say it is, and not some clubroadster-fueled retarded "got to be different to get some MAD TYTE STREET CRED", then you'll switch your setup.
Unless, of course, you're going for the elusive fastest carbed/NA drag Miata title, which you probably already have given how well known Fujiracing is for presenting accurate data about their products.
edit: I too, would like to know which class you're competing in.

Running carbs was an economics decision. So I thought anyways.
The plan was to develop a motor that was the most economical to run and get the most power. Keep in mind, I had a lot of parts laying around from my Camero and Mustang racing days. I also have some experience with nitrous on high horsepower cars. I have no experience with turbos. So the answer is yes, I will get the most out of it considering my budget, parts available, and experience.
Albumleaf, pay attention and read the posts, I stated why I am using carbs. The fuel preasures are the same, and I thought it would be less expensive.
As far as what class, that is still up in the air. Right now it is simply a test motor/toy. I am leaning towards an entry level single power adder class.
And before you ask, yes, I have competed in heads up drag racing. Competed with a Mustang. Went a 9.30 at mid 140's mph. Went 9.20's in testing.
