miataturbo.net-like debauchery thread (about the ND or something)

Ah. No plans for a 17x7 as yet. Maybe something for next year. The 15x6, 7 and 7.5 are taking a while as we keep needing to revise the drawings here and there. Then a line of all new 5 lug 18's and a few special application 17's from current tooling. That should keep us busy until Q2/17.

Just finished watching a video on Mazda's Facebook feed where some pretty important questions were answered about the ND. Some highlights:
Based on all this info, I think it kinda seals the deal for me on the soft top. The car WILL be tracked eventually, so I have to be able to install a roll bar. No roll bar fit, no sale. Not a huge surprise I guess, given the issues with putting a roll bar in the NC PRHT.
- The RF will be available in Club and GT models, not in Sport models.
- The roof mechanism adds approximately 100 lbs.
- They are planning a launch edition car that will be equipped exactly like the show car. That color is not currently offered on the ND. Brings the question if that exterior color will be available on Non-RF 2017 models as well.
- The RF will be hitting showrooms in the December-January timeframe (they hope).
- They are working on pricing and it should be released soon, just waiting on executive approval.
- The "roof" (buttresses and the pillar that goes between them) does not add significant rigidity or rollover protection. It's essentially decoration. This means an additional rollbar will very much still be required... if it fits (which is doubtful).
- Trunk space is not affected (good, cuz it was tiny anyway)
- Blind-spot monitoring and Rear Cross-Traffic alert will be added to Club and GT trims (he didn't specify if only on the RF or on softtop models as well, but I expect it'll be all Club and GT models).
- Top will operate at speeds up to 6 MPH
- Sounds like the GT will still not get the Bilstein or LSD. He said the Club and GT will have different suspensions

Headroom looks generous but that guy wasn't particularly tall.
I do really like the lines from most angles, but not all angles..... Same with the soft top. No denying it's stunning in profile though.
