I have the 1.4 N/A. Have had zero issues in 150k.
Buddy has an Abarth with 80k. Also no issues.
The only real issue I've had is with wheel bearings going bad every 60k.
One major advantage with fiat is you can get max care which warrantees your car until you die.
A tune might void that though.

Then there's this: 2016 FIAT 500 Reliability | U.S. News Best Cars I think it's a pretty safe bet that this one won't be a hell of a lot different. Reliability is a lot more than just a good engine.

Correct. I meant to type NC. Sorry about that.
I realize that, and I have heard of strange gremlins in the 500s. I have not experienced them personally.
That said, if the 1.4 is good, the 6 speed is good, and everything else is shared between platforms, then reliability should be on par with Mazda.
I have heard some strange stories about the electronics in the 500L, so who knows.
Regardless, maxcare ensures that Tony will fix your car for free, and it would make the fiat a no brainier for me if I were buying new.
Based on past history. I've worked on a couple of Fiats over the years, and I'll just say their reputation is well earned.
