Miata to get 2.3 turbo engine next year
#23
^ i'm sorry. how exactly is NC lacking relative to your 93LE? it looks better, it handles better as a stock car, more room, faster... better build quality, better interior...
i love the sky. but 1) it's a GM. 2) the soft top/tonneau operation is f-tard. 3) it's still a GM
all i care about is how the 2.3L-t will f-up the weight distro? anyone know? another 150 lbs up front? at that price range, i think i'd still take a new S2K
they were heavily touting the 2.3L-T at MNAO last weekend during 7stock. Everyone was taking pictures of the motor on a stand. :gay:

Looks are debatable. I think Mazda went off the rails by trying to make the NC look like the RX8. The RX8 was already ugly, why would they want another car like it. They needed to go a completely different direction with the miata. The NA is still popular and looks good at nearly 20 years old. In another 20 it will still be a classic design much like the English cars it was made to emulate. Don't think anyones going to say that about the NC.

The interior of the NC is cheap plastic. It feels great on the showroom floor..but how will it hold up like our NA and NB models. In the autocross scene in seattle there is a blue NC that has been killing its class.
Even though they have more power they arent as fun to drive. You dont have that strictly sports car feel. But I am interested in that new 2.3. I wonder how it would be to swap.

For the record I like the way the NC looks. I just wish they were available with out power steering, 250 lbs lighter, and there should be a real sport model instead of packaging things like a limited slip with the additional weight of leather seats. WTF kind of a move was that?
I want one with A/C, limited slip, and a 6 speed. No cruise, no ABS, no PS, no leather seat, no heated seats, etc.

handles better: stock for stock maybe, but who leaves them stock :gay:
more room: WHO .... CARES
faster: again, stock for stock..
better build quality: subjective, plus the NC costs more so it should
better interior: again, subjective.
The original Miata didn't need all that crap to sell, it had a formula and stuck with it. The NC is distracted by trying to compete against GM IMHO.
Like the saying goes, the NB (or NC) is a better car, the NA is a better Miata.
