What are all parts I an take out the engine bay and still have the car running. I want to clean up the bay as much as possible and have as little as possible.
Yeah, standalone ecu will allow you to remove all the emissions equipment without setting a check engine light or any ill driving effects. EGR valve can be removed and the ports on the intake manifold sealed with block off plates. EGR solenoid and evap purge valve can also be removed.
If you're running a stock ECU, I believe you can remove the evap charcoal canister (big soda can-looking thing with vacuum lines going to it) without setting a check engine light.
Obviously, this is all stuff you may have to eventually put back in if your car is a street vehicle and has to pass smog.
You can remove nearly just about everything you see that isn't physically bolted to the motor and needed for functional operation. You can relocate critical items to different areas too if your heart desires. I did a pretty substantial wire tuck at the same time as my kswap and there's zero reason you couldn't make a BP on a standalone ECU look very similar. I could go a step further and hide even more things, but the juice doesn't seem worth the squeeze.
