I might actually be checking out an Exocet this weekend. The US distributer is based out of Atlanta so I will hopefully be stopping by their shop to check them out.
I thought weight wise that they were below 1500pounds when done.

Oh snap...
Not only did that guy have his just-finished Exocet crunched at the gas station, his day actually started by having his neighbor back into his daily driver Miata.

Saw the car this weekend. I don't care if it's not the best looking car; gears are turning in my head about building a turbo Exocet. The owner (who is also the U.S. distributor) is a super nice guy - would be totally comfortable doing business with him.
Pretty cool to inspect the car up close - I didn't realize that the front and rear Miata subframes bolted right up to this chassis. He estimates one can be built in 100 hours - that's not bad.
Here are a few pics:

I've decided I think it looks fine for what it is. It'll never be a Seven or even an Atom-copy, but then the design and construction basically forced the appearance of the end product, and I'm okay with that. Form following function, etc.
I want one. I just don't know what I'd do with it. It's almost unusable as a road car except for screwing around on empty roads, and I can't afford a dedicated track/autocross car.

Someone should build one, and rent it out. Let people drive it and get the thrill, without the long term investment in storage and ownership. A few hundred for a weekend blast.
