How many miles before oil change on fresh head?

How many miles before oil change on fresh head?
Just wondering how many miles I should put on the car until changing the oil.
The oil was changed a few days before I took the head off and I tried to keep things as clean as possible but I am sure there are a few things that got into the oil and coolant too.
Any suggestions on when to change the oil and coolant too?

I'd say you probably don't want to drive it anywhere. Even the smallest random shaving could hurt you.
Somebody might chime in on the best weight of oil to use for the initial starts... but I've always read that you just need to get it up to temp, then shut it down and change the oil... no driving... which is what the other posts here seem to agree with.
The discussion should probably be whether to use a normal 20w50 or some very thin or thick standard weight. Maybe just a plain 40w or 5w. I don't know enough about viscosity to talk about which one would stand a better chance of suspending particles that escape the filter.
Arkmages suggestion is exactly what I did when I tapped my oil pan for "shaving" safety... I think the same thing would apply to your head change.

I use 20W-50 for flushing and 10-40 or 20-50 depending on season for normal daily driving.
