Hot antifreeze on foot
So when i accelorate i get more antifreeze on my leg than i did before (see another thread) my question is this... my HG blew and caused one of my hoses to get a hole in it, does this sound like a have a hole in the heater core hoses? Or does my core need replacing? I know it's not normal to have a little puddle after driving an hour..

more time than cost for sure...you have to take off the dash to get the core out...
i would check the hoses first though, i too had one blow and the coolant burned my leg a bit, i just changed the hoses and no coolant in my cabing again...make sure you check them very carefully, you may not see the hole right away, keep in mind its more than likey a crack not a hole...good luck
i have a spare HC if you need one...

If you just want a quick fix, pull the hoses going into the firewall and connect them together with a piece of tubing that can handle the heat of the coolant. You shouldn't have to deal with it leaking out of the bad core anymore, you also won't have any heat in the cab till you get it fixed.

CHECK THE BRASS LINES THE HOSES CONNECT TOO! If you took the hoses off with anything other than your hands (which i know is undoable sometimes) chances are the brass line(s) got ovaled and are leaking. Had the issue a while back and coolant will and can leak down the inside of the firewall onto your leg. If thats the issue I used a long socket and worked it back round. Took a little while though to get it perfect. If not I'd check the heater core but since you added heat sheild to the hoses sounds like line is ovaled. Hope that helps...good luck!

it doesn't leak all the time. mostly in low gears like 1st or 2nd. So my guess is the HC. whaam, i'd love for your spare, how much you want?
Quick question. How much does it weigh? I onyl drive this car is summer/spring. Would it be benifical to do what chad said, than remove the core?

damn i want my name changed...everyone keeps calling me whaaam...wtf, lol
if you do not need heat ever, you can remove it, wont save a lot of weight 1-2lbs maybe??
i dont think that you need a new-er HC, it sounds like your lines im pretty sure...
if you do not need heat, just re-route the lines...look it up in search...
MD can get cold
if you want to retain heat, inspect the lines again, very carefully, you can have a small split like i did...or you may just need to reshape your HC lines...
good luck...if you must have HC, PM me and we'll work something reasonable out...

well i have a 2nd car, this goes into the garage. I plan to just connect the 2 hoses with a barb.. what size are they do you know off hand? If i overheat, i turn off, i don't risk anything.

as of right now looks like HC... however the brass fittings were a little ovaled. not sure if that caused it or not... but i rerouted around the core and now no problems... yet, will post tomorrow with update.
