HID headlights

I have a 2001. I've had a ddm hid headlight kit in it for about 6 years. 35 watt 5000 color. Last night the driver's side went out. For the price of a couple bulbs I can get a whole new kit. I was thinking about getting the 55 watt ones. Does anyone have any experience with higher wattage bulbs in a nb2? I don't want to fart around with relays or fuses. Just plug and play.

I've been running a Morimoto 55w kit from The Retrofit Source for about 6 years, 60,000 miles in my NB2. I've had two issues with it - grounding issues (my fault) and the relays went bad over time. I've replaced them with junkyard parts and had no issues since.
For $20 I also relayed my high beams with their parts. I picked up a scratch and dent relay harness for their HID kits. The connectors they use match the 9005/9006 pattern without being keyed for either. Plug n play.

I found a pair of 35 watt bulbs I bought back in 2016, when I got the setup. Going to put them in and hope the ballast is ok. Driving a one eyed car makes for a cop magnet. Well changing the bulb didn't do it. Ordered a 55w ddm hid+ kit. Supposed to be a lot brighter than what I had. Was about $85 shipped. They claim 7-10 year life. The one I had the said 3 year life. They lasted 7, so I guess I got my thirty bucks worth.
