Help Faeflora Pick a new Turbo
Goals: 550hp with 50/50 WI
I want something pretty cheap. I "lost my faith" when my GT30 bearings started to die this week when I touched 23psi. That means no spiffy new EFR or GT-X turbo.
Currently thinking about:
HY35 or HX35 (hx40 looks kinda big) $200-$350
GT3582 . proven power but not cheap. (found a pretty good looking one for $900 with a .62 AR turbine)
PT5857 $700ish
Borg Warner ????? something cheap, need to figure out the model numbers
Opinions?

This. 18psi and I actually agree on something, for once.
Like I said in your other thread, look into the turbine housing sizes. There are plenty of options for you in the Holset range. *Do not judge by physical size*
Borg Warner turbos are also top notch. Extended Tip Technology is bad *** and they making VERY nice numbers and the spool is great. Most of the medium frame S series turbos are under a grand, which is not bad at all.

LOL as much as I like chinachargers I would DEFINITELY not recommend using one to get to 550.
I'm with sav on this:
if you want big boy power like that, there is just no cheap way of achieving it. Gotta pay to play. Or should I say: " gotta pay to have a long e-peen on the internetz"
Of all people here, you probably spent if not the most, then close to the most money on your build so far fixing all the bullshit and mistakes.

Which borg warner models do you recommend?
For an HX40 I assume I'd want the smallest turbine AR available?
Also, note that other than my frame rail modification, there were no major mistakes in my build other than the multitude of **** ups by the shop I paid for some work. I would have done that stuff myself, and perhaps fucked it up myself for free, but I didn't have a place to work on my car at the time.

get an hy35, i paid like 150 shipped for one with 60k on it off cumminsforums.com.... also if you ever think you want bigger, just go to the hx, theres way more options like turbine housing size, and the ability to go to an hx40 hybrid.... and you can get a pile of holsets for the cost of a legit garrett...

I'm having difficulty finding a list of all the turbine housings that are available for a HX/Y35 or 40. Do you know of any sites that have a list of all the options in one spot?

Can you please tell me some info about your current hy35 setup? What car are you running it on, how much boost, how much power?
