Default gutted / half-way gutted interior

I'm considering pulling some stuff out. I definitely want to do door cards with a pull strap, and I'm considering yanking the carpet.

This is the bomb:

do it man! I'm considering the same thing. I love the look of a clean gutted interior.

I'd say: Do it, but get your car ready to drive first and do this later.

my car is completly gutted. only one word of cauition, if you remove the carpet, it gets STUPID hot inside the car. i have actually bumped my leg against the trans tunnel in the summer and the sweat from your leg sizzles.

it's the bomb. excet when you come to know just how hot that transmission tunnel gets. don't rest a bare arm down on it or you'll be pulling it off in just a few seconds saying "ow". Also that's no a/c or heater vents. I'd even guess no defrost.

+5000

Stupid hot, at least try to find some ultra light heat insulator. Its painfully hot in a gutted front engine rwd car.

I read about some sort of space age material, as thin as tape that can be a 400 degree difference on either side of the insulation. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Hit up home depot or lowes and pickup reflectix (sp?)

It's a foil faced 'bubble' wrap type material. It made my tunnel bareable.

Personally... carpet went back into my car. Was simpler to keep clean and stay non-burny.

I've seen pics with new door skins, and a lot of crap removed including the center console. But then the finished it with new carpet. Looked so damn clean and simple. Somewhere on m.net.

What exactly did you do to the dash, What was removed, and what not. Looks really clean.

I would like to do something like that but with the carpet still in the car.

If it's a track only car, then quit bitchin and start pulling **** out now...
If it's a dual duty car, then just let it be, it is not worth it.

Default Rhino bed liner

I have a 10AE and not real hip on the blue cutzy carpet. Or my two tone seats.. their so (90's) looking.

I have seen it done, where the floor boards were sprayed with Rhino bed liner, I think however it would still get hot. My 99 you can't find carpet replacement without buying OEM and that cost to damn much.

not sure where I am heading with my car... just a toy.

but the bed liner **** is just a thought

It takes a lot of useless post to get your count way up like some people.

Hearing every single pebble hit the bottom of the car gets a little old.

Oh, and most girls HATE a gutted car.

Hell, I'd be annoyed with a gutted street car/daily driver.
