I just recently did mine. Zip ties work fine.
For comfort, I need to sculpt the back a bit, but the seat base is comfy for me with just the foam cut from the top. I had cut the bottom lump off as well and that was too much for daily driving, but it will come out for my track day, since that and a bit of lean can get me below the roll bar.
You can drop 1/2" or a bit more by ditching the rear seat mounts and making your own that mount lower

6'4" tall, 35" inseam, 33" waist and have foamectomy'd the crap out of my stock seat to get me under the hardtop. Still several inches away from passing broomstick.
+1 for Zip ties. Took a hacksaw blade to sculpt foam and had mine start-to-finish out, cut, and back in car in under two beers.
