Default Fire System Group Buy

OK, so NOPI is requiring these this season. The cheapest I found was $349 @ SafeRacer, but Firecharger www.firecharger.com has systems for $199. As always, they might give us a break if we have a big order. Would anyone be interested? It's a 5lb(2.3L) 2 nozzle system.

this is an interesting system, i'd be amazed that one little CO2 bulb could do an effective job at suppressing a fire. any idea if this meets the standards for any sanctioning bodies, or what it does to the harnesses/aluminum/plastic it hits? one of the advantages of Halon and its clones is the lack of collateral damage.

This is the $349 one at SafeRacer. The C02 cartridge looks the same as the FireCharger one to me.

Here's an install article from Grassroots

I'd like one as well. Not required, but when it comes to safety equipment I usually try to aim higher than the requirement.

I am getting a fire system for the time attack car shortly as well.

however, I am getting Halon. The other stuff ruins anything it touches, and I don't want to have to rewire if some dummy accidentally sets off the system.

How many sources are there for Halon now?

I wonder how much my full halon bottle is worth (5 Lb), I still have a system that I have never used with a full bottle.

Well if R12 is any indication that **** sells for 50-60$ a lbs. You could probably find a firesafe company to buy it for sure.

Put me down as a maybe @ $172 and a definitely @ $140.

If I bite or not at $172 is dependent on how much other crap I have to unexpectedly spend money on around the time of sending money in for this.

I have a friend who may also want in on it @ $140 for his MR-2, I'll get back to you.

just looked it up... I'll probably stick with the smaller system for size reasons. I have no idea where I'll mount it since I use my trunk and my soft top. I might see if I can make it fit above the passenger's foot well somewhere.

OK, another Fire Charger update. They will honor the group buy price for either system! 2 $140 or 3 nozzle $195, it doesn't matter! I have about 18 tentative people, and I'll post a list tonight. I plan on closing this group buy on Feb 15th.

Thanks!
