Cut main starter wire on accident
Was rushing to get a 1.8 swap done today and cut the main wire going to the starter by accident. Have a couple questions:
1. What is the best way to fix reattach the two pieces ? Would a butt joint connector ( like below ) be able to handle the amperage ?
2. What gauge is this wire ? Oreilly sold me a 10 gauge wire that goes up to 30AMP. However I think that the starter requires a wire that can handle up to 60AMP, but the 10 guage wire already looks thicker than the wire I cutted.

The main starter wire should be 4 gauge.. unless you're talking about the exciter wire. If it is the thinner exciter wire, a butt connector will be good. Ideally you'd use the type that the outer jacket is heat shrink and has glue inside. If not, get some heat shrink with glue inside and shrink it over the butt connector.
If it is the 4 gauge main power wire, use something more like this: https://www.grainger.com/product/2FD...160909114720:s
Then heat shrink over that.
