you guys that are in to modding and soldering need to check out the mod/hacks section of eeeuser.com's forums. I'm gonna pick up the 4g model here soon and mod the **** out of it. Sure I could "get a better laptop for the same money" but it wouldnt be near as much fun as making the stuff myself.

also, you can put windows xp on it, you just need to trim it down a little bit using nlite. I got my install down to 278mb. I will be picking one up this week, it should be pretty sweet and a lot easier than using my 17" media center laptop.

Also, 4gB is so last year. Can you put in one of those new 16gb cards? Not that you'd need it!
How long does it take to boot? Without hard drive seek times, I would imagine it's pretty fast!
