Default Which color to pick for a respray(mariner blue)

Hey guys. My car currently has terrible paint, chipping hard top, the works. I don't mind it that much, but i'm going to paint it sometime soon since i have access to a garage/air compressor/spray gun and the time to do it.

Now I actually love the color of my car, but the more I think about it the more I'm tempted to slightly change the color. I dont want to go with a huge change or anything, and I still may even stay Mariner blue, but what do you guys think of this.

I'm going to paint the engine bay when i pull the motor, its going to be gunmetal grey, or some kind of grey color. I'm doing this because i want to be able to drop the motor back in the car right away, then drive it while I do the body work and finalize a color. Also when i spray it a new color i'm going to do the door jams. I'll probably end up doing the trunk, roll bar, and wheels in a gunmetal grey as well to go with a theme.

Now the colors I'm tossing around. Give me your opinions please. My car is a standard NA mariner blue, r package rear trunk spoiler, GV front lip, and eventually some 15x9 6ul's, and a hardtop. Just to give you an idea of the "look" i'm going for.

Laguna Seca Blue, heres a miata done in that color.

And I'm also considering a semi flat, or satin blue.

The more I look at colors, the more they all look the same. I really like the Porsche blue and the Bmw blue so far, but the grabber blue(ford) is sexy as well. And flat blue could end up being simply badass. Maybe I'll choose one of the glossy colors and add a flattening agent to it when i paint it.

Also feel free to add any suggestions, with pics of course!

240_to_miata, do you have any reassembled pics? That color is very sexy. Although the color i choose will be a lighter blue, for some reason i want to keep that mariner blue feel, but with a deeper color to it. Although a darker color like that mini cooper does look nice a well. It's just too hard to decide between all these slightly different shades. I think i'm going to price them out and make my decision a bit easier.

As for build thread, yeah I'll document the recent happenings on my car and make one up. Especially the painting, etc. I actually just pulled the motor to replace all the gaskets on it, remove ac, and drill the oil pan for a legit oil return. The rest of my install is so standard i figured nobody would want to see a thread on it.

No I am not finished. I cut it with 1000 grit and got it partially assembled before I put it away for the winter. Check my build thread for more pics.

I was going for the deep metalic, but if you want something like mariner check more into the Mustang blue. The mustang you posted above is Grabber Blue. The older version of Grabber Blue looks better in my opinion. My friend painted the original Ford Grabber Blue on his Malibu show car...

Next to his dads pro-street car...

Mariner blue with silver pearl. It's subtle and bauce simultaneously, and you can get away without painting the jams and engine side.

Laguna Seca Blue looks great too.

The plan is 15x9 bronze 6ul's, but maybe gunmetal grey instead. I want to do a theme tying in the roll bar and wheels.

Thanks for the suggestions, even though im still undecided. I just started the body work so i've got some time to dwell on this. I really like that BMW laguna seca blue, but it's been done on a miata before. I also like the s2k blue(apex blue) and am considering it.

I probably shouldn't overthink it.
