Take your most beat up totaled Miata and cut it apart put some lights and a plate on it and drive it. What a great toy. Bone stock 92 Miata drive train and no weight. Budget build or not. Cut springs will cause you a headache.
Even if you get cheap lowering springs rather than use the Bilstein thread it will be worth it in the long run.
Cheap fixes cost more the longer you have the car.
