Anyone have a rollbar and rear glass window?
I'm helping the bodyshop guys this week finish up my car and everything is happening at once...
My girlfriend got me a harddog rollbar, with the 2 diagonals....and a new robbins top with the nice fabric and a glass window. I was looking at the rollbar today thinking, how in the **** is the top going to go down without hitting the diagonals on the bar? I think maybe I need to return this top for a different one. I was hoping for a glass rear window, but its not a huge deal if I can’t have it.
Anyone here running a rearglass window with the rollbar? I'm thinking now of just removing the softtop all together and just getting a hardtop, but this is my daily driver.

I don't think the glass window will work with the DD bar but you could contact Harddog http://www.bethania-garage.com/contact.htm and ask them. I wound up getting a plastic window even though the HD Ace bar was supposed to work with a glass window.

If you want to keep the rear glass and don't want to go with a hard top, get the M2 Hard Dog Sport --> Bethania Garage Inc. & Hard Dog Fabrication.
From the sound of it, you may have to special order it so they fabricate it correctly to clear the robbins glass.
Currently, there are no hard dog roll bars that I know of that will allow the use of glass rear windows and hard tops, so it's kind of a "one or the other" situation.

The top I have is this one.

I just got off the phone with Moss Motors, they are going to "see what they can do". I have a feeling I'm going to put the top on ebay tonight, take out my old top and frame and ebay that as well, and just look for a hardtop.

Everyone seems to forget about the Boss Frog rollbars. Harddog isn't the only rollbar producer! The Clearview is compatible with Glass rear windows (including stock NB's and Robbins), Hard top compatible, SCCA Solo1 approved, and has double diagnols. Everything you want! I bought mine from GoMiata just FYI

I'm gonna take back what I said about rear glass windows and hardtops. HD does make one: http://www.bethania-garage.com/ace.htm. Supposed to work with aftermarket rear glass too.
And yeah, there definately are more manufacturers out there with plenty of options on their products.

I have the Harddog M2 sport with the double diagonals. The top I have is the Robins top with the nice fabric and zipper glass window.
The only experience I have is with an OEM top with a plastic window that I never unzipped, I would just fold a towel on the plastic window. So I have no experience with unzipping a window and putting down the top. But it seems to me, that the window would hit the diagonal parts.
I want the top to work, but it just seems like it’s impossible to me. I was just getting ready to list the new top on ebay. Now I'm going to do some more research, and see what I'm going to do.

OK, so I took this picture today to show you guys. I see no way that a glass window will be able to fold down and not hit the diagonal bars.
Could somebody please cup my ***** and show me a picture like this with the window not hitting the bars? :gay:
This is an aftermarket Robins top with the zippered glass window. I read on the websites that the factory glass windows work, but for some reason not aftermarket ones, and also something about a “no diagonal” bar.

Quote from their website, looks like it will work just fine to me.
"The M2 Sport Bar uses the same main hoop mounting system as the original Hard Bar Sport. The redesigned rear braces allow room for the '99 - '05 Mazda glass rear window.
The M2 Sport will also fit the '90-'97 1st generation Miata and is compatible with most after market glass rear window convertible tops. Special diagonal verisons are available* for aftermarket glass rear windows that are larger than the original equipment on the '99 - '05.
One or two main hoop diagonal braces and/or harness attachment tabs may be added."

Quote from Tom at Bethania Garage “You need a top with the same size and shape glass as the 1999 - 2005 factory top.”
Could one of you guys maybe hook me up a length and width on your factory glass window? Much appreciated if so!!
I guess this is where I find out whether or not I’m keeping the top…
