Great thread. I did some searching, did I miss somewhere where the transmission was talked about ? Are you using the Mazda 6-speed with the "thoughts and prayers" upgrade, or are you using one of the KMiata BMW solutions?
Just got back from Harris Hill Raceway. The car as it stands is now in the same ballpark lap time as my One Lap CRX with the same motor, though they make time in different ways. The Miata is faster in corners due to larger rubber, better balance and more effective aero. The CRX is faster is a straight line because the wheels/tires are tons lighter and the shorter tires give better gearing on this track. Miata also currently suffering in the braking department...typical RF lockup. ABS goes on this winter, as well as ditching the non-ABS prop valve.
Other winter projects include:
BW EFR 7163 on KMiata manifold tuned to make 450 at 8000 on E85
Flex Fuel setup
BMW 5-spd
Getrag 3.23 rear diff
bump steer corrrection (the big meats tramline horribly exacerbating the bump steer effect)

David got a little backed up on stuff when his CNC mill took a dump. BMW adapter bracket should be shipping within a week.
And V8 Roadsters is perenially behind, so I'm waiting on the rear end change, as well.
On the bright side, the slapped together motor I just built out of the old busticated core (see also broken valve spring) just fired up this evening. All used parts from the shelf with the exception of one new 09 TSX piston. Old TSX head with some chamber damage and two bent valves (replaced with used stuff), 05 TSX rods, 09 TSX pistons, Cartel DIC cams. Fired on first key turn and purred liked a kitten. If you saw the condition of some of those parts, you'd laugh. Heck, I even reused an old head gasket. if I blow it up I don't care....real motor comes later.
Optima stuff will be first priority for this car. Currently signed up for NOLA, NCM, Barber and PPIR. Will likely drop one of those. NOLA is coming up fast, so might have to run w/o boost for that one. Car is pretty quick as it sits, though. Last year, we ran that track with less power and no splitter...and did just fine.
Big success at the Optima Ultimate Street Car event at NOLA last weekend.
Over the winter, the good motor self-destructed with a dropped a valve from a broken valve spring. Cobbled together a replacement from various bits from the last two broken motors. Lots of scored/damaged but serviceable stuff. Only new part was a single piston. Even reused the head gasket. Made pretty good power.
Only other changes were finally competing with the splitter installed, 2" more rear spoiler allowed this year, and an Optima battery in the trunk. Turbo not yet ready for prime time due to Real Life.
Won every segment in our class except the Speed Stop (still no ABS), including 6th Overall in Design and Engineering judging, and 7th Overall in the autocross. Got the invite, so we are headed to SEMA in Vegas this Fall for the Invitational again.
Just made my way through this whole thread. Holy crap what a car. It is almost exactly what I want from a Miata. Subscribed to hopefully see more amazingness
Currently he is busy "mucking" at the SCCA solo nats. Probably with the ND if I had to guess. I asked him the other day where the NB was and said that it was in storage. He has been busy lately with a new house build and vacationing and such.
Andy is busy mucking with his new McLaren.......that also had a mishap during OLOA earlier this year :(
Yep. That happened. All fixed now...did the work myself.

All that, too. The ND is prepped for SCCA Time Trials in the Sport 5 category. Gets TONS of track time.
Built our dream house, including this huge air-conditioned shop.
Sadly, my off-site storage unit was recently burglarized and I lost all of the not-yet-installed turbo parts for the KMiata, and the BMW trans kit. :( Insurance claim has been filed.
CRX has seen the track recently, but the NB has only moved from our old house to the new. :(
