Yep. My plan is to reach out to all of the miata aftermarket companies that make cool stuff and try to get them on board. That phase is probably 5-6 months out. Personally, I think it would be really cool to see the small companies that actually serve the motorsports community presented in a video game. From what I have seen of games like Forza, it's mostly huge companies and hard parker stuff.
Really great idea and implementation! We use a similar concept in work, in conjunction with augmented reality (using Microsoft Hololens) to train assembly line workers with interactive instructions.
Just as an idea, was wondering if it would be feasible to scan a complete interior. That would allow easy testing of modifications and layouts of controls, gauges etc.
Taking apart my 95 engine and getting good notes while I do it.. All of this will go into a spreadsheet and I will post it later. I have been resisting the temptation to weigh everything and add that to the note cards....
I'm building a catfish for my first car so im not planning to scan the unibody. Maybe someday I will be able to get a license for a miata, if I do I will do a full interior/exterior scan.
Oh well, one can always hope that strangers will do the hard work for them. Obviously, those are really good looking results! I've tried using photo-based reconstruction stuff before and never had really satisfactory output.
I've been following this for a while and love the progress. As both a VR and Miata junkie, this appeals to me greatly.
One thing that strikes me in particular: If you're building a game to build a Miata/Catfish, you're basically making a game to build an Exocet. Don't know if you've talked to Exomotive, but that would be pretty sweet.
I already posted a bunch of suspension parts for free on gumroad. I'll get around to posting engine stuff when I have time. https://gumroad.com/alecmoody#
