Default 1991 BRG good price??

Hey guys I've been interested in getting a miata for a while and this is the only one I can find on Craigslist that has a turbo set up already installed. Please let me know the price you think it's worth or what you would pay.

details: 1991 BRG special edition Miata
120k-miles -- original 1.6L engine, viscous limited slip diff all still in great working order. Motor runs and sounds strong.
Timing belt & water pump replaced at 60k miles.
Aftermarket parts installed at 70k-miles:
FMII turbo kit -- 2554BB turbo, hard lines, hybrid downpipe (2.5", w/ FM 1.8 free-flow cat).
This is the latest design manifold & piping but with the earlier Link ECU.
FM 47mm aluminum radiator.
12-lb steel flywheel w/ MSM clutch.
Racing Beat stainless steel 2-3/8" exhaust.
LC-2 wideband O2 sensor w/ gauge.
Larger 1.8L brakes, slotted rotors, Porterfield pads, SS lines.
XXR 527 Wheels 15x8.25 +0 with Nitto NT05 tires just installed last month.
Auto Konnexian Fender Flares v1
FM frame rails
FM Pedal Kit
Urethane suspension bushings
FM lowering springs w/ Tokiko Illumina 5-way adjustable shocks & FM upper rear shock mounts.
FM sway bars (stock rear bar currently mounted -- FM rear included)
Hard Dog M2 Sport roll bar w/ pad & leather cover.
Canvas soft top w/ glass rear window.
Heated seats.
The turbo is set up at 8psi and 12 psi. It is conservatively tuned and very reliable
Paperwork is included.
AC works and power steering work.
This car drives and handles great not to mention that it is a perfect DD.
Body needs some TLC.
(You guys tell me first) OBO
Clean title

thank you guys for your time and knowledge. I appreciate it all.

Same. Wonder if the engine oils in the same condition as the air filter? 1.6 SNC and belts TB supposedly changed so wonder if the crank bolt was properly torqued? And Link!

To be honest, they're about the best looking Miatas in my opinion...its why I bought mine!
I boosted mine fairly soon after purchase, but had a bigger turbo and even on the stock motor I made great power. But you're gambling on those old motors buying used because you don't know what the PO did to it (or like bahurd said, what the condition is if the air filter was allowed to get that bad). If you just want a fun car that's kind of cool as a limited version, the 91 BRG's are harder to find. Is that one in Dallas? I think I saw one just like it in Dallas, but it may not have been boosted. And of course theres one in San Antonio for sale with or without the turbo set up, that's my listing lol. But after removing my turbo set up and getting it running, I don't know if I can come to part with it and may enjoy it on the stock motor for a bit.

If you can get it for a good price and are willing to wrench on it, knowing it 'may' need repairs in the near future, Id say go for it. But if you pay a higher price it doesn't seem like he took great care of it...I mean his for sale pictures includes junk in the pic...water bottles, plastidip, etc

Thanks guys. He was asking 6k obo then said 5.3k so I'm not sure where to go from there. Given all those parts it seems 3 k is a low number. I hit him with 2.5k and he said no way which is understandable . It's in Arizona where I'm located and it's the only one. Should I ask for more pics and upload to see if they make a difference?

Your money. For me a beat to **** '91 BRG is just another beat to **** Miata. Nothing special about it. And people here will tell you to start with a 94 if you want an NA. This one has too much going against it.

thanks for the quick response and why would they suggest that year? What are the pros and cons of owning one of those over another year?

I'd say that was a very fair offer. Rare colors only add value if the paint and body are in good shape. Lots of less than optimal parts including Link ecu, rear diff, high mileage SNC 1.6, tiny exhaust, etc.

Walk away. You can find much better, even around here (rust belt) for that kind of money.

Basically better engine (1.8), chassis bracing, better brakes and other assorted less important things. To me, it's better to start with a better car and add to it than buy someone else's potential problems.

The seller of this car, from the looks of it, doesn't have enough ambition to at least clean up the car and make it presentable in the pictures so I'd ask myself why I'd expect him to have a different attitude with respect to maintenance etc.

Did the guy selling it do the work? It has the look of a car that was cared about 5 years ago then molested by a new owner until it is a sad shell of its former self. Unless he stopped caring after he trashed the paint while out running the cops dukes of hazard style drinking a 40 screaming ftw!
