Default 01 Parts to upgrade 91/96

I have a 91 with pretty much all 96 drivetrain (engine, tranny and diff(torsen). I just picked up a base 2001 as parts car with some damage from rear end collision. I am trying to figure out what parts are worth keeping and swapping over to the 91.

1. I will be keeping the VVT engine and tranny.
2. I was debating on swapping the front and rear subframes for the improved suspension geometry, but I don’t know if I want to swap steering racks, my 91 steering feel/assist is perfect.
3. Brake master and booster
4. Rear calipers. The 01 rear calipers have bigger pistons than 91’s right? I am already running 11” sport rotors in the rear.

Questions I have:
1. Are the A-arms improved with the NB2 suspension?
2. Will the NB2 coolant reservoir fit an NA?
3. What other NB2 parts are worth swapping over?

Rear subframe is not worth switching over.

Front subframe and control arms are worth switching over. I believe the A-arms are different Na to NB.

Is it worth swapping over the NB2 rear A-arms? I was thinking about swapping the rear subframe to get the additional brace mounting points since the 91 rear subframe has none. It might be easier to just weld in any brace mounting points that I need since I was planning on making my own rear braces in any case.

After re-reading some old threads I read years ago it appears that I remembered incorrectly and all years other than Sport models had the same rear caliper piston size. I for sure thought the 1.6 cars had smaller rear pistons.

Is there any other reason to install the 01 rear calipers on my 91? Any other upgraded features on the 01s?

The rear control arms aren't any different or received any extra bracing. The NB rear uprights add about 5mm of track width (10mm total). The front subframe has better geometry and stronger upper arms (more under side gusseting). You should not mix-n-match the NA/NB control arms because the ball joint tapers are slightly different between the generations. You will have to keep the NB rack, but it can be de-powered like a NA rack or ran with a NA pump.

Coolant bottles are different.

Can I use the top seals from the 01 on my 91?

Rear subframe has different exhaust hanger locations too.

That's right. Don't really want to mess with relocating the exhaust hangers back there.

I'll echo that the front subframe is totally worth it. The upper ball joints are different NA. To NB, but the LCAs are interchangeable. You'll need to swap:

Subframe
Spindles
UCA
Steering rack

I have NB lower control arms into my 94 but you'll need the NB endlinks to make it work.

I have the 949 end links so it should still work with the NB lower arms. Did you keep the 94 front subframe?

I kept my NA front subframe. I believe any adjustable endlink will work with the NB lower arm.

The geometry change is in the subframe, not the control arms.
