I've been playing VS on Matheson with the TEST outfit, and this game is ******* awesome.
It is stunningly beautiful, and there are a ton of different ways to play, so you can play for 4-5 hours without getting bored. If you like RTS, you can command a platoon or 2 (well if you are in a 1500 person outfit like me). Except instead of NPCs you order to die, you are ordering real people around.
Or you can just get up close and it plays like Halo, except you have 666 people on your team instead of 4, and the map is several hundred square kilometers. The infantry combat is very well balanced, and you can have a boatload of fun just jumping straight into the meat-grinder. Or you can choose a support class like engineer or medic and get a ton of exp that way.
Or you can jump in one of several planes or tanks to get around. The tank stuff is well balanced, but the air-to-ground is overpowered currently compared to anti-air, at least if you have the a2g rocket pods.
Basically if you have a PC that can run this game, you NEED to download it.

thats what im worried, ive been a closed beta player so my launch pad is from then. I guess im going to have to find that out the hard way. However, my wife plays everquest 2 from Sony using Launchpad, and she says it just re installs the launchpad and verifies the data you have, and adds or replaces what needs to be replaced.

That's the way it's supposed to work, anyone who is not an idiot would have programmed it that way. I assume it does, because I heard a lot of complaints about the launch, but that was not one of them. If they flipped the switch from beta to release 2 weeks ago and made everyone re-download 7GBs, people would have flipped ****.

Mother effer. This game got INSANELY busy tonight, i had to stop playing. I was down to like 15-20fps and there were so many people in areas it was just impossible to shoot at people without hitting your own team. Driving a tank pretty much anywhere resulted in running over your own team at least a couple times. The only thing that provided any fun was raining down fire from a liberator.

Yeah, it does get bad. I think there is an optimization patch being finalized, I think they want to release it next week. But the render distance bug is a real issue. You have 2000 people on each map, which is normally no problem because you are 10 miles away from them. But when you get 1000 people fighting over the same territory, you need to figure out how to relay the positions of 1000 people without using up shitloads of bandwidth and killing people's CPUs. Right now it just cuts it down to what it can handle, which in the crazy battles is usually less than 100 feet. I just find some empty ones to cap with the outfit, and leave those to the zerg.
Speaking of which, it's still double xp weekend, I've got to join up with the 116th Cert Farmers Brigade and get to farming.

You'll figure it out. And once you do, you'll either hate it (unlikely) or love it for the fact that it's unlike anything you've ever played before.
So i hear they might be releasing a new continent. One that's like a swamp, with a lot of fog and foliage. Like the one in PS1. That would be fun.
NC got our *** handed to us all weekend too. :( Though i only put in a couple hours i got ranked way up due to double xp that was nice.

A couple other thoughts.
They need to have more of an XP bonus for defending a base. You get little to nothing by staying back and defending a base. Weather it be a big huge base, or a small little pass with only a building and some rocks. Countless times we would push ahead only to leave a huge void behind us that the enemy would just recapture without issue. Cutting off our supply line and extra troops/fighters.
The game feels like: gather forces, push ahead to enemy owned base, take base, move on until dead. Start from closest base owned and push forward again, over, and over, and over. Which is all fine and dandy, but a good defense is a strong offense. IMO.
Another issue they need to fix is some type of high ping filter. Or just kick high pingers. I had a couple times where people would jumping around an area like they had a lag switch. Not even rubberbanding, just skipping around. Most of the time if you hit their frozen body it would kill them but if they are running around so fast you can't ever hit them. Next thing you know they're on top of you peppering your face with lead. That sucks.

Yeah, we had a couple issues with that this weekend, but mostly because we didn't WANT to push ahead. It's double XP weekend, we were there to farm those certs! Too many times we would defend a tech plant, then the zerg would push ahead, when we just wanted the enemy to keep butting their heads against us. The zerg have no direction, they just do what they want. So you have to plan strategically around them. Go to the bases around the ones they are attacking, try to find where the counter-attack is coming up and stop it, something like that.
