Guild Wars 2?

So how does a free for all ruin those events? People have the ability to work together if they want they do not have to kill each other. If you are implying that the fact that people could sabotage and kill other people and therefore make the events harder then I agree however that adds to the fun and challenge of it. It is simple to have the ability to cast friendly spells as well as harmful spells on others. The biggest complication I would see in this would be with AoE spells but I am sure with creativity they could work something out here. I am not a game designer but to say that the only way to do something in this way would be to have two seperate factions is stupid. That is just the easiest way.
A quick fix to your guilds getting too big argument would to put a cap on guild size.

I think my brother might get it so I will probably wait to make any final judgements on the game and decide whether I want to make the plunge. The PvP is gonna be my draw so without a traditional outdoor pvp type system I think it will be a hard sell for me. PvE level grinding becomes too daunting without some suprises in there...computers are just too predictable.

And IIRC PvP is arena style. Meaning you have to join a specific area. I'm not much a fan of PvP so i never looked into it.
Looks like the release is 3pm eastern, as early as midnight eastern time... Ugh... Guess i should stop drinking, don't want to pass out.

I'm playing it right now.
But there is like an "intro" mission thing, where you have to kill some **** to get into the main game. And it's so bogged down, that it's not letting anyone in.
I can broadcast. Maybe...

I take it you got teleported after you killed that elemental thing? The people i were playing with and talking to on teamspeak got in. It was like 50% of us got in.

Join a party with them. Then every chance you get right click them and hit "join in" or something like that. Most of the time it will transport you to their server.
It's crummy because the overflows are bit's and pieces of different servers. Making it somewhat impossible to recruit to your guild for a specific server.
