Got frustrated with the tranny and threw in a race transmission which cut 4 seconds off my time. 5th and 6th are worthless on the stock box, I'm barely hitting 200 on the straight.
Then for ***** and giggles I put the stock tranny back in and maxxed out the power, and managed 245. What a funny little car.

C-class NA miata on Maple Valley short reverse. Parts list is here: http://forza4clubracer.tumblr.com/po...ace-miata-425c
I wanted to get with you on this one to get a parts list off you but ran out of time. I managed a mid 44, can't break into the 43s though :( It's definitely a momentum car for sure! Should be fun tonight, hopefully with a bigger field!

Got your message Trey, we had already finished anything fun though :( You almost made it for the main event though, it took FOREVER to coordinate 14 people, about half of which were new to our starting method.
Mgeoffriau, the key is final drive. Don't touch anything else until you feel like you're getting the max out of the stock alignment and "maxed" final drive.
Tune so you bounce off the rev limiter once or twice at the fastest part of the track. Doesn't make sense to bounce off the limiter, but you most likely won't have your fastest lap in race conditions.
Do this from the "test drive" menu option under "upgrade", so you can pause any time and adjust it. Should be in the high 4.xx for this particular race IIRC.
Try that and come back to us, it knock a few seconds off your time. That's a great track/car combo to hone your skill on anyways, short and sweet with a slowish car that's plenty forgiving.

As for the spec race, once we got going I had an absolute blast. Whoever Rich....something is was great to race with, we had quite a few laps on each other's bumper until lap 20ish when I got a small tap from lapped traffic. A certain parter outer.
I'd love to see the replay picture on lap 15-20ish when on the final corner I was UBER close to his bumper. Great race.

Bumped my FD ratio progressively up to 4.88 (I think), still not quite redlining it but close. Sadly, it only knocked about a second and a half off my best time -- my new clean lap best is 49.7x or thereabouts.
Really need to watch a vid of one of you guys to see why I'm so slow. I just feel like I can't make smooth steering and braking inputs. Is everyone using a wheel now, or are some of you just as fast with a controller?

probably 80% of us are controllers. Plenty are faster than me, I think my fastest was in the 45s, dirty though. What was your fastest dirty lap? The first few corners after the straight often cause a dirty lap for me.
P.S. 1.5 seconds on a 50 second lap is a huge jump. Great start, just go race 50 laps like that and tell us what you think.
You have ABS on, right? along with TCS, but stability control off?
Edit: I should also say that once you get a rough tune like psi and gearing, go to "free race" and then "hot lap" from the main menu. This will give you your ghost you can race against. If you trend towards a dirty lap on a particular track, make sure NOT to get a clean lap in, as it'll leave your ghost on that lap and it'll be harder to lower your time.
Use the ghost corner by corner. If you're letting off a bit through a particular section, try WOT next lap. Try braking a split second after you see your ghost's brake lights come on. Do this corner by corner and your ghost should get faster and faster.

I set the difficulty to "Hard" which I think turns all the assists off, but leaves the auto transmission on. I know that ABS might help me, my braking distances are fairly long because I'm still locking them up fairly frequently so I start braking earlier.
Will test more tomorrow night, thanks for the tips.
