As far as I can tell, you just have to scroll through all the pages of junk to find something in the price range you are looking for.
My monk is outfitted with AH finds and it makes the game way to easy, at least on normal level. I four hit kill bosses... I suppose the AH items probably become more of a necessity at higher difficulty setting.

Im kind of stuck at the end of A3 on hell with my monk. Resistance is only at 122 and am getting rick rolld by elite mobs so have started to re play from beginning of A2 so I can hopefully hit 60 and possibly find some more gear on the way. AH works decent for me ive picked up some really nice stuff I just look for ones that have under 5 mins left and place cheap bids. Overall though the AH is a joke and I dont get how people think that people are willing to spend over 800k gold on an item they will scrap in a few levels. Hopefully will hit 60 tonight and get through the rest of hell and onto farming for inferno

My buddy and I are starting to get owned continuously by elite/champion mobs in A2 of Hell - some are OK, but occasionally you get the fireball throwing jailer with extra health running around with 4 minions which are all invulnerable teleporters dropping either ice bombs, arcane turrets, green slime, or any of a host of lingering wide AOE death-on-contact attacks.
We're trying to figure out what we're missing in our builds/play style/etc. - as ranged DPS, I do ok as long as the boss isn't launching 3 fireballs/second at me, but in a nasty group, I can generally expect my buddy to bite the dust in 3-10 seconds, at which point all I can do is run and hide - which usually doesn't work anymore. We've tried kiting with limited success, but a lot of elite/champion mobs at this point seem to be moving at about 120%+ speed, with maybe closer to 200% when you factor in teleporting mobs. I've started to talk with him about resistance gear as a distinct possibility, but it seems any resistance gear would need to be +resist all - especially when some rare encounters have fireballs, ice bombs, and arcane turrets all wrapped up in a pretty little package of spiders whose minions have minions. The major question I have is "how well does resistance gear work"? Would it be worth trading in some vitality/dps for resists?
I remember the first time I died in this game - I was really disappointed. We're at the point now where the question is "how many times are we going to have to die in order to take this mob out?"

Finally hit 60 last night and will try and finish act3 hell tonight. I swear I am getting the worst combos for elite mobs (molten, fire chains, reflect damage, fast) which makes soloing much more interesting. I re ran act2 on hell with tons of MF on my gear and actually was getting some decent drops but no legendary items. I will admit that im not looking forward to inferno until my resistance is up to 400+ and I break 25k health at least.
In response to fooger resistance gear reduces the damage you take from different damage types ie poison, fire, arcane. Being a monk im lucky and I get a passive that makes all my resistance equal to that of my highest so I can stack one kind and get benefits for all. It makes a world of a difference on rare/elite mobs as things that would normally 1 shot you take a few hits. Also if you find gear on the AH with decent stats and they have intel also get them. Intel adds to all resistances as well and with how random gear is you may get lucky and find a piece with your stats plus some random intel.

The game gets ridiculously challenging after finishing hell.
I'm stuck on A2 inferno now with my monk, which has 3 high level legendaries and the rest of the items are good quality rares.
55k hp, 400 resist all, 18% melee dmg reduction, 5.5k armor and I can get 1 shotted.

I'm okay with the difficulty, as it would be boring to finish the game so quickly without any challenge.
Monks are still great tanks, but it requires a lot of gear to progress (same as barbs). Expect to do 50+ runs of each act in inferno before progressing to the next act - either that or spend lots of real $ buying gear once the real $ AH opens.
Gearing up is not that difficult once your party can kill elites/rares. I finished hell with 3.5k hp (was mostly dmg) and after farming mobs in A1 inferno (before any bosses) for 3 hours, I had 25k hp since I had to switch all my dex for vit.
It's best to group with the same 3 people constantly and share loot so you can all progress.

You only had 3.5k hp in hell????? I am at about 6k dps with 20k hp and 200 ish resistance and I am still trying to get through act3 second half. I have no problem with groups of rares ect but if its an elite with molten and invulnerable minions I get owned since I have bad luck. Any advice as I have a shield and about 65% dmg reduction already with under 30% dodge. I just wanna get to inferno so I can farm gear to put on the $ AH lol
If you want to farm inferno solo to sell items on $ ah, the best advice I can give you is to roll a DH or Wizard. Melee and inferno do not go well together whatsoever, especially solo. The play style for a solo monk in inferno is to use deadly reach and kite mobs. You'll have a much easier time doing that as a wizard or DH.

Yea my HP in hell was very low, since I went pure dex. I never solo'd though so I really only needed to use Serinity and the mobs would be dead.

I hit 60 yesterday as well. I was stuck dying on azmodan runs at 56-57. Then my unique sold, got some gold, and upgraded my gear. Changed my spec on my WD, I've got some really good kiting and CC utility now. Once I hit 58, got my rotations down, I cruised thru A3 azmodan runs. The only thing that got me close to dying were ------- teleporters. Screaming about them on mumble, my friends that are farming A3 inferno inform me they completely skip teleporting elites all together.
Got some pretty good boots doing azmodan runs, 183 dex, 70 vit, 70 str, 45 res all, 60 hp/sec some other stats, was only missing run-speed. Sold them for 700k, then bought a 695 dps 1hand, 3% LL, vit, int, etc. My damg jumped from 9k to 21k from lvl 59 to 60 lol. Working on getting 30k damg and more res, only at 200 res.
From listening to my friend on mumble(vent) they kite the elites, monks and barbs have an extremely hard time right now. Kiting as a ranged is the best bet at the moment, I think I'll have decent success with my WD.

*: I know this because I tried to play that type of build with extensive AHing and keep trying to go back to it. Even abusing the mantra-dodge issue and a bunch of other things, you still need enough hp to survive a minimum of 1 hit, which 3.5k just isn't enough to do in Hell. 3.5khp also makes the Mantra of Healing/BoP build unavailable to you...Or perhaps you are doing something I'm not aware of. What's the secret sauce here? 'Cause if this is the case, you've got a Secret Sauce none of us other Monk players have been able to figure out, and I'd -really- like to know what it is.

3.5k hp is extremely low for any class in hell. I had 25k hp by the time I got done with A3 hell(lvl 55)
I'm going to start inferno tomorrow evening, farm A1 for awhile and figure out what stats I need to make it into A2.

3.5k hp in Hell? You'd get one-shot repeatedly as a 3.5khp Monk in Hell*, even in A1. I think I misunderstand your post as it seems to me you are trying to say you play a Monk with 3.5khp in Hell - unless of course you are playing a DH/Wizard, and those are just OP as ---- right now unfortunately. It would not surprise me at all that you could clear Hell with 3.5khp with either class.

On a plus note, I solo'd inferno butcher yesterday and can kill about half the rare spawns I encountered.
