New CKEditor is Back / Working (sans User tagging)
If you go into your user options and Message Editor Interface you can select CKEditor. It is now BBCode based instead of html (the reason we had a ton of issues prior)
This means that tagging users with simply the @ sign is back and it is a true WYSIWYG editor so you can past damned near anything into the editor and publish to get that exact message formatting in the post.
MiataTurbo is the first site to get this back for testing and I expect you to find ways to break it.... so do your best.

Still on my list is Props and Gallery links to where photo is posted.

Test:
Yup, ? at the end of the url still works:
[img]https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/d1/55/6c/d1556c08f2313ec2cbc51fdd1d7f7024.jpg?[/img]
Interesting sidenote: The "click to enlarge" bar at the top of images larger than 800w now opens in a new window. Better than before (where you couldn't embiggen them at all), but I'd still like to see them enlarge inline like they used to. That worked nicely.
That said, I love the auto-uploader. I can't count the number of writeups I've done over the years which have been rendered useless because of loss of images due to link-rot or formerly-free image hosting sites going to paid access. Having my images preserved here on the forum has been a godsend.

I am having them look at the image resizer because when they rolled this out the image resizing in the post seemed to break.
I know you guys dislike the current lightbox (because it is terrible) but we may use this one in the future and it is much better: PhotoSwipe: Responsive JavaScript Image Gallery
It would let you cycle through all the images in a thread and is what is currently used on mobile template

I noticed one other interesting anomaly, and this is pretty minor in the grand scheme of things.
The [noparse] tag is being ignored by the page-renderer when using the new editor.
To see what I mean, edit my post above. You'll see that both images of the unikitten are displayed within the editor window, despite the fact that the [img] tags for the second one are enclosed in [noparse].
Weird thing #2- Crtl-Z is behaving very oddly and non-intuatively. Play with it under various conditions (including the use of cut-and-paste) and you'll see.

The auto-image uploader is awesome. I can't count the number of Joe's write-ups I've encountered with dead images. I just wish it would pop open the link paste area instead of the uploader.
Is the uploader for legal reasons? "We" are uploading the images, where before you were automatically uploading the ones we hosted elsewhere?

When I paste something with outside formatting, when I click reply it removes all formatting and makes a wall of text.
example, this is 5 different paragraphs with hard returns between each when I pasted it:
edit: and now it looks like dick ****.

A U.S. Border Patrol agent in Arizona has been arrested and charged after state troopers found 110 pounds of cocaine in his rental car that he planned to transport to Chicago, authorities said Monday.A criminal complaint filed in federal court shows Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers stopped agent Juan Pimentel, 47, on Nov. 18 near Marana, just north of Tucson. The complaint says Pimentel was driving a rental car and identified himself as a Border Patrol agent when he was pulled over.He consented to a search that resulted in the seizure of about 50 bundles of cocaine weighing 2 pounds each, the complaint states. The bundles were in four black suitcases. The document says Pimentel initially told a state trooper the drugs weren't his, but later said he was going to be paid $50,000 to transport them to Chicago.

The formatting from the editor to to bbc makes me want to punch babies.
I'm constantly losing hard returns, bold text, and other styling after I hit post/submit.
I'll probably disable it in the next 10 minutes or so.

This Crtl-Z thing is still really screwing with me...
