Ban.

A little birdie told me that I was close to being permabanned. If someone has an issue with me, I would hope they would contact me directly to discuss it. I've enjoyed and have given back a decent amount to this community so if an unwarned permaban occurs, I will not be pleased.

I was about to PM you Fae...but I wasn't going to ban you.
I keep getting emails on my phone about a post reported by you, and invariably I click on the thread and find that you instigated some newb bashing, and then report the post when said newb fights(types) back.
The last newb I warned asked if you were also warned for your part, which was warning-worthy. I didn't dignify him with a response as I value long-time contributing members and am not here to dole out reprimands on the whim of the mob.
I try and make fair assessments of what's funny, what matches precedent (even hustler's profound precedent), and what is good for the spirit of our forum. In doing so I've had a few members pop up on my radar, but have never gone as far as to ban.
While I don't want anyone to take this as a "carte blanche" opportunity to go shitting in people's cheerios...mt.net is only a community as long as it's made up of contributors. "Culling the herd" does not support growth, and should only be done when it increases quality.
Long-standing, and especially contributing, members will always get preference in my book. It might be unfair, but you've all proven yourself and I count many friends among you. That said, we were all new once. Don't assume that everyone that registers is a 14yr old with a keyboard and a wish.
Give the newbs a chance.
Consider this a warning.

newb bashing is frowned upon. Good-spirited flaming is all in good fun, but you bring to a low. It's not funny and tarnishes our rep to potential new members, current members, vendors, etc.
you're better than this. Learn from Hustler, he went from zero to hero. and now he has the power to ban you -- you have the power to get banned.

That's weak, low, and embarassing. Instigating your own e-thuggery, then trying to act butthurt when things don't go your way? Come on dude, are you 12 years old?

Wait, did you seriously say newb bashing is frowned upon? Is this the same forum you think you're logged into? I thought that was "The Way" here.

Getting emails for no reason wouldn't tickle my fancy either.
If I was a mod I would have banned *** long ago, but since then I've learned to just ignore. He's come a long way for sure, but some of the "humor" that he brings along is just aggravating.
Whatever. Doesn't really matter much to me but I can see why the staff is getting fed up with it. Believe it or not, I feel there's a few other members here that are just as bad if not worst. I just try and use that ignore feature I was referring to earlier.

This place has always been brutal and quite honestly a chore to post in. The archives and for sale sections are the only ones I really browse anymore unless I'm very, very bored.

Its refreshing to be able to speak your mind and not have to post G-rated ***** posts because some ******* fairy might get his panties in a bunch because you used the F word or worded something graphically.
Kinda like being in the garage among MEN and being free, as opposed to being in the kitchen with the women and feeling out of place.
There are pros and cons to both though, of course.
Just my .02 though

Did Fae really just get perma-banned?

I feel exactly the opposite.

That's why out of the 2 dozen forums I'm signed up on, THIS is the only one I actually come to on a daily basis.
I usually get a good laugh or learn something every day.
Other forums have too many rules and regulations. This is by far the most openly spoken forum I've seen, and Vlad is right, its refreshing.
Obviously that's not the only reason this forum is good, but we all know why we hang out here. So I don't have to repeat whats been said a thousand times over. lol
