Cool PLX MultiGauges NOW AVAILABLE at Fab9Tuning.com

We're excited to introduce the PLX Product line to the site. This setup is really as simple as it seems.

Product Link

Step one: Choose your display - The DM-6 and DM-100 are both built on the same MultiGauge technology allowing you to display a number of parameters at once on an easy to read display. The DM-6 is a 1.10" OLED Screen and the DM-100 is a full color OLED Display. Both touch operated.

Step two:
Choose the Sensor Modules you'd like to display, these can be daisy chained together to provide a nice clean network of sensors. The Sensor Modules are also interlocking so they can be stacked neatly.

Sensors include:
  • Wideband O2
  • Fluid Pressure (2 sensors per Module)
  • Fluid Temp (2 sensors per Module)
  • Vacuum/Boost
  • EGT
  • Air Intake Temp

So Oil P and T + Water P and T on the same gauge... any warning or fail safe features ?

I hope so, this would be a pretty slick way to clean up the dash.

You toggle between displays by touching the gauge?

Wow, that's very cool!

How large are these? 1.1" is a lot smaller than a standard 52mm gauge pod. Is it meant to be installed in a factory cluster?

Default PLX gauges

Bryan,

The PLX web site isn't exactly the easiest to figure out stuff from, or I'm just dense today.

Assume for a moment...

1. User has MS2E or MS3 for an ECU
2. User also has the OBD-II module from Rev so has the port
3. How do you get from the OBD-II port to a gauge then daisy chain off that gauge to the 2nd and 3rd (assuming 3 gauges)

Reading through the page for the DM-6 implies you can do that.
http://www.plxdevices.com/product_info.php?id=MULTDM6

Gauge 1 = Oil data + Water data
Gauge 2 = AFR data + Boost data

Is this possible using the OBD-II data from the Rev module?

Or am I misreading it?

Brian

The 1.1" is referring to the actual OLED display. The gauge diameter is a standard 2 1/16" or 52mm - compatible with existing gauge pods.

It is however only .7" thick so this might allow you to integrate it without having to modify a the PC board behind the cluster.

PLX DM-6 | Automotive Meter Car Gauge

I'm not up to speed on what data the Rev OBD module will provide but I'm sure if it meets the same protocols utilized by common scan tools and live data readers it will communicate with the gauge, then the Sensor Modules are a different input on their own network.

If you're asking about 2-way communication (using OBD to communicate gauge outputs to your MS) I don't believe this is the intention, although I see the appeal. Similar to what AEM does with their CAN system.

PLX gauges are nice. Faeflora and Fooger have examples on this board of a PLX gauge in the dash cluster area.

Not how they were intended to be used, but works very well.

Each gauge can set up to 4x alarms for out-of range issues.
Alarms I have are:
Too High AFR when Boost exceeds threshold
High Oil Pressure
Low Oil Pressure
High Water Temp
High Oil Temp
High Boost Pressure

Any time the parameters are exceeded, the full screen of the gauge begins flashing alternating red/white while showing you the out-of-limits parameter.

Over time, the OLED experiences image burn-in, but after nearly 4 years, it is only really noticeable during the warning screen. When the screen flashes solid red, I can see some of the outlines of my steady state readings.

Details for the cluster build are in link below. These are pre-touch-screen units that have a usb controller with them to alter. With touch screen, I have no idea if installing them behind the clear screen in the cluster would become an issue.

Never mind, after looking through the documentation on the PLX site it appears it won't do what I'm looking for.

I saw a couple of orders come through for the DM-100 setup - Remember to use the Tax Season promo code guys.. "CASHOUT" during check-out.

You should be able to see the standardized OBD-II values in that gauge - RPM, TPS, CLT, IAT, IGN, VLT. Some gauges like the ScanGauge II can be programmed to show more, in which case you can also see AFR, Knock Retard, EGO Correction, Baro. You can't see oil temp or pressure through the OBD-II.
