Timing, IAT's, 18psi and srt4 i/c :S
Was doing alittle tuning last night, after checking out hustlers spark map I noticed his low end timing was more than mine and figured I'd give a few more degrees a try, our top end cells were almost identical and we are both running low comp motors and similar turbos (2871 vs 2860) so why not give a few more degrees a shot.
Everything went well but I noticed I had alittle knock at peak torque and 12-18psi (cells I changed were 2900-3400 and under 100kpa and fuel was added after aswell), so I checked my afr's, solid 11.5's, timing was 18*-20* from 3400-5700 and 183kpa to 230.
So after dropping a few points of timing and suppressing the kncok (now sitting at 16* from 3400-5700 @183kpa and 15* @ 212 and 14* @ 230) noticed a couple things;
1) My IAT's are rising from 70-80F to 90-105F in a single pull(as in the delta is approx 20F when I do a long pull)! This is in 16C weather at night, seems like way to much and I'm betting that is what's causing my det problems.
2) I can run 25-27 degrees of timing at 8psi in the same rpm cells and get no knock and I would expect to lower the timing as the boost rises but from 25 to 16 degrees for 4psi, seems extreme.
So I'm thinking my intercooler really is maxed out.
I just wanted to confirm this before my broke student *** spends any money.
Should I just ramp up more fuel ghetto tuner style? DC is sitting at 75% at 220kpa on my 750's
Or pick up one of those $100 intercooler from ebay (this is what I'm planning)

are your IATs rising from 80f TO 105f? or are they rising BY 80-105 degrees f? big difference and i'm not sure which one you mean.
the last time i was on the dyno i did two back to back pulls and my IAT went from 70-105 followed by 80-109. these were 4th gear pulls starting at low rpm with tall gearing (135mph by the end of 4th). also, the fan at this dyno left much to be desired.
by the end of the 1/4 mile i usually see temps around 120f, obviously the airflow through the intercooler is much better.
i'm running a cheap 3.5" thick front mount from ebay

Just a quick follow up.
This morning ambient temps are hovering around 67F @100kph.
WOT pull from 3000 to 6000 (making 19psi) in third gear my temps hit 103F.
The i/c is definitely out matched, or I need a bigger turbo :P
