Default Should I add a timing gear?

I am building an engine for my '94 and I bought an AIT damper for it from FlyinMiata so it came with the belt guide for it so I have to install that on to it, and I started wondering if it would be of any benefit to add a timing gear to it at the same time.
The 94's don't have the timing gear and only use the signal from the CAS for timing. I plan on adding a turbo and a MegaSquirt to control it. Would there be any benefit to adding the timing gear and the sensor for it? Would the MegaSquirt be able to read and utilize that signal?

I would, CAS is sucks and inaccurate compared to the crank trigger. You can make the megasquirt trigger off anything, there are lots of threads on the subject.

Cool I wish I would have thought of this before I ordered the damper, it would have saved me $12 in shipping to order it at the same time.
Oh well, live and learn. I did take this project on as a learning experience.
