Trade you your motor for my labor during the swap. And garage space :)

Hee hee.

Nope.

I'm running this setup til it blows. Once it blows, I'll explore my options at that point, and Kswap is tops on that list.

This makes me feel like my k24 is being wasted while stuffed in my Si.

I have a minty K24A2 from an '04 TSX for sale if anyone is considering this swap (you should be...).

Located in Charlotte, NC. PM if interested.

Found a substitute for the discontinued AEM pulley for a 3 pulley setup. KRC 0612-40150600. $48.09 shipped from Jegs.

It is a 6 rib pulley instead of the stock 7 rib but you can't find a 7 rib belt that size anyways.

This is on a Denso TSX alternator with a .670" shaft. Probably should verify your alternator has the same size shaft before ordering.

awesome... I need to look into this. It makes things a lot simpler to not need to add a 4th pulley.

Next time! Yeah these new Skunk2 Ultra cams are apparently eating tensioners everywhere. We never had issues with our old set of cams. I think its time for an Inline Pro tensioner.

We'll get you in the car next year :)

My other car came with a K and I've got Kpro already.
Tensioners and TPS are consumables on this engine it seems. More so with aggressive cams. I just received a new TPS to try out.

Otherwise I'd be less hesitant to go K in my NB.

What are/were you using for the tensioner before? Have you had TPS issues yet?

Oh also, the K engine has oil starvation issues and with the way it's mounted in the Miata, it'd have issues during braking-- does the oil pan to clear the steering rack help in that regard?

EDIT: sorry turbofan, I'll look for Emilio's thread.

I believe the oil starvation issue has been discussed in Emilio's Kswap thread. Wouldn't be bad to cover it here though I guess.

Most (I think all?) are running B-series throttle bodies so they have avoided that issue.

Nah, the tensioners are fine with the right cams. I've been running K engines since 2009 and this is the first time I've had an issue - right after installing big cams. The Inline Pro tensioners don't fail on much crazier setups, so that should correct the issue.

Yeah, the K TPS is junk, which is why we run B series TPS's on all the cars, and offer a jumper harness so you don't have to cut your engine harness.

Regarding starvation - our oil pan is baffled, and we tested it at 5 tracks without any oil pressure issues. We did eventually put an Accusump in the test car this year as a safety precaution. It's a good idea for a car that's primarily for track duty but not totally necessary.

No need to apologize greentee, just wanted to point you to another place to find more answers.

Good to know David. Still would very much like to do this swap one day after the BP goes pop.

ctdrftna 10-18-2015 07:21 AM

Ktuned hall effect tps sensor corrects the issue.

Has anyone looked into manifolds like what Larry/Endyne used to make? I had one of his heads and manifolds on a n/a build I did on a 2001 Integra Type R.

Scroll towards the bottom for the manifold:
