Inline thermostat housing?

Inline thermostat housing?
What’s y’all’s opinions on the inline thermostat housing that comes in some of the newer reroute kits? I’ve thought about using one with my reroute setup and then my brother just gave me one today but I wonder if it wouldn’t be as accurate if the thermostat was 12” away from the engine... thoughts?

I had one, worked fine. A former vendor had this similar remote setup and they ran tests vs the original layout. Even if it does open a second or two later than a direct rear mount (not proven, just arguing in theory), having coolant run through the block is still way better than just going out the front. The results clearly indicate the rear is able to extract more heat. If you were really worried that the temp at the remote mount was lower than at the head 12” away, you could just put a lower thermostat in, but it’s not really necessary.

Watch your positioning of the hose vs. the EGR pipe, It can be a little close.

Not sure which hose I’m using. It came with the reroute kit I bought. I also picked up another dayco hose at my job that we pulled off a GMC Savana that is shaped almost identical to the hose that came in the reroute kit. I don’t have any pics of it right now. It’s shaped perfectly if I had the factory intake tube, and it still works great but the hose is touching the silicone 90* coupler coming off the TB. Not a huge deal, but I’ll change it at some point

I had to cut and reweld the neck on my radiator to point sideways since it's a thicker aftermarket unit and the hose hit the silicone elbow. Something to keep in mind if you go to a thicker radiator.
