Unhappy Horrible VVT noise, could be oil pump?

Hey guys!
Here is my older thread about this horrible clunking noise in my new engine.
Since then we've found out that it is 100% coming from the VVT assembly. I've tried replacing the solenoid but the issue stayed the same, however if I put 12V on the solenoid to make it stick open the noise is drastically lower then before. If I keep switching the solenoid the noise level keeps changing, and if I completely remove the solenoid and plug the hole, the noise is minimal. So we've come to the conclusion that this must be the oil pump failing. I've dropped the car to a guy who specializes in miatas and he measured the oil pressure and said it was acceptable but close to the minimum acceptable level so that is alarming too.
I've called him now but he doesn't remember the exact pressure numbers.
What I want to do before replacing the old (and maybe worn out) pump is to measure oil pressure near the VVT solenoid.

There seems to be a thread where I can measure. Do any of you know what kind of sender do I need for this thread?
And do you guys think I am looking in the right direction for this problem?
It seems that this just baffles anybody who I go to for help
Thanks in advance!
