Default Flame suit on, stupid question: built BP vs junkard K

So, my junkyard BP6D has been running like a top with the EFR6258 for a couple years. 5 speed hasn't grenaded itself yet. Now I'm tempted to turn it up. The question is... what to do next?
When I originally put this car together, the K swap wasn't an affordable option. It's less expensive now. So, if I'm targeting ~350whp for track days, which would be more reliable - a properly built BP, or a junkyard K24? Will my v-band EFR6258 fit with any of the off-the-shelf header options on the K series? Built BP definitely seems the easier option, but I like Honda engines too...
Pros for built BP:
* Already have everything else in place, just insert engine and turn up boost
* $$ kmiata swap parts

Pros for junkyard K24:
* Runs cooler?
* Better response?
* Still more reliable than a built BP?
* Cheap replacement engine vs $3-4k BP build if the engine goes bang

As somebody who is building a BP, if I could go back in time and k-swap, that would be me preferred option. A junkyard K series engine can be pretty darn cheap at a junk yard. If my built engine has a mechanical failure, that's going to cost major money.

I sold my uber built BP motor for a stock K24. The K series will me 10x more reliable and they are sub 1000 for a motor every day of the week. Look at David's turbo k swap that was 500hp and the countless hours of track time on that car before he finally spun a bearing. Or if you want 350 and no turbo that can also be had with a k swap.

K

And I make a living selling BP parts, among other things. We pulled the highly developed BP6D / TSE EFR 6258 out of our primary race car and are dropping a N/A K24Z3 into it. Next, we'll build an S550 Mustang with a turbo K24A2 and DCT.

K will cost more up front, but less in the long run.

I was afraid of that... have they come up with a cast solution for that front cover yet on the k24z3 swap kit? Is it really that much cheaper to get that machined aluminum piece + different harness + kpro than to just do a haltech?

The K24Z3 cast front cover is in work. Per Slipangle podcast with David from KMiata KPower Industries from a couple weeks back.

I may be biased, but we do sell a lot of K parts to guys formerly running turbo BPs.

Our stock K24 engine made 400whp on spring pressure (10 psi, on e85). So if you "only" want 350whp, that will be such a mild build that any $400 junkyard engine will handle for years.

I have a G25-660 here, along with another mint K24Z3 that we'll be installing in my new NB, so I'll have lots of good info to share later this fall. We've already designed a stainless turbo adapter for this head as well. Four bolts on one side, V-band on the other.

If you already have the whole setup on a stock motor, there is some middle ground that's not being discussed. If you are a handy person, and have the ability to R&R the motor, and tear it down and put some china rods in it, and have access to e85, you could budget build your existing setup to handle ~300whp somewhat reliably (and cheaply).

Since you already have the entire turbo setup, ECU, etc. this could potentially be done for under $1k and you'd have a refreshed forged rod motor ready to take some abuse.

But if we're discussing going with a fully built BP vs a junkyard K motor, I'm 100% on board with the k-swap decision. It's just the way to go now days with how cheaply you can swap them thanks to K-power industries. I really want to build something K-swapped, and I really like the rx-8 chassis, so I'm just hoping they come out with a kit for that.
