OK so I went to a shop today-- Burtonsville Machine in MD and they said it would cost 2000-3000 to just deck, hone, balance crank, disassemble/reassemble, magnaflux, hottank. That seems ouchy pricey. They were also unfriendly so they lose. Plus, they didn't really have specific experience with BPs. Mostly domestic.

Anyone know of a good spec miata friendly engine shop in the DC area? I figure they would at least know the BP.

I forget the name of the shop but it just moved to Summit Point and has spec miata experience.

Scott/Braineack has also used one of the Fairfax Auto Parts but again I forget which.

Not trying to sound like some power-bottom snappy ------, but from what I understand a turbo track motor is built significantly different from a NA track motor...like the other-end of the spectrum. Just consider that, because they may know exactly what to do or may borrow logic from SM.

RP Performance, they are more into RX7s than miatas, they moved to Summit Point Raceway.

Fairfax Auto Parts did some machining for me, the dude has built some winning CSP motors.

fair enough. got specifics or hints to them? i mean you're dealing with more heat and increased volume flow rates, but what else?

Right, when building a BP bottom end for boost vs NA what would require special consideration other than pistons, rods, and clearances? This isn't a rhetorical question. I don't know the answer.
