Can i tap the NB1 fuel rail dampener hole?

I'm at work and this is just some conjecture I've kind of formulated the past few days without any knowledge of the NB1 fuel rail.

Is there enough meat in the hole the dampener plugs in to to simply tap it? Then run a 90 fitting, AN adapter -> FPR on the firewall

The stupid turbosmart thing is like $30, and I still have to buy all the fittings then anyway. Just a thought, feel free to tear it apart.

I tried to do that on a spare NA fuel rail an it was not working very well. You have to drill it out and then carefully tap it and it just didn't sit well with me. One tiny fuel leak can ruin your day. I ended up buying the Turbosmart adapter and I'm glad I did. Quality part and fit perfect and doesn't leak and I can always return to stock setup if need be. If you do get the turbosmart fitting, be sure to get the one made for Toyota/Subaru because the "Mazda" one does not fit.
