Post a pic. There's a little nub that will pop out the back, but it's just a locating nub and it's not actually sealing anything. If the sides of the seal are coming out, something else is wrong.
I've done dozens of these and literally never had a problem, so something isn't right.

Should I also plan to reseal the oil pump? It didn't leak but I've done this a few times now and I'm wondering if some brake cleaner might have gotten through. I doubt it though because I never scrubbed there...
Just trying to make sure that this time takes...

This is what it looked like.
Getting up to spec the center part here would squish as expected, but I could feel the seal on top of the nubbin protruding out. Ie it was slightly past flush.
The wing on the edge is visible here. The tail at the end isn't coming out but the start of the wing where it curves is compressed and you can tell its coming out there.
And same thing in this picture.
I think it's this part of the seal.
The tail isn't coming out. Just the part above is compressing and coming out past flush. Don't know if that's within the normal range of things.

I honestly thought it was okay, but ended up deciding to do the rms as well so I pulled off the piece that holds the seal and did I'd just ******* do it again.
What worried me is that all the above was happening before torque spec. How long do you typically wait to tighten things?

Hour or two, max. Unsure if that's 100% proper. If Andrew says to do something different, listen to him. I've never personally had a fresh motor, or even a block-out re-sealed motor leak, though.
That's just my DPE. If you like DP as much as i do, you can listen to me.
Thick rubber gaskets like that are going to deform a little, nothing you can do about it. The difference between 50inlbs and 70inlbs isn't huge.

If I can get the woodruff out, I might just redo that as well. I bought a FMS and if the goal is to reseal all the things then I guess this is it way to do it...
