Hey guys, just got the car dyno tuned again last night. Here are the results:
192 WTQ @ 4500 RPM; 197 WHP @ 5600 RPM; 13.7 PSI from a GT2560r, and CA 91 Octane Fuel.
This is an update to my previous post. Build details can be found there.
Looking at other dyno threads posted by people that have similar setups, my numbers seem low... Maybe my motor really is due for a rebuild like others suggested in my previous thread. Do you guys see anything odd in my logs or tune? Any room for improvement?
Another thing I was thinking: maybe the dyno calibration is off? I'm spinning the tires in 2nd gear on 225/50r15 RS4s.
I think its in the ballpark (i.e. within confidence interval of the dyno) -- 91 tune stock 1.6 whp will probably be around 95-100whp, 14psi is almost 2x atmosphere which theoretically doubles output, so 197whp is at least pretty close... 93 tune would probably get you 15hp, 1.8 would give you another 10hp -- right in that 225whp range that you may have been "expecting.
I say enjoy the car as it is, or find some higher octane/octane boosters/e85 and squeeze a little more out of it
If you don't believe the dyno do a virtual dyno and compare the results. My same setup does bout 255whp w/1.8 with more conservative timing. If this dyno is in calibration then ya your engine is tired. But 200whp isnt bad. Just drive it till its dead.
I have similar setup with you with boost control and a ME442 top power is similar but as yours real power comes over 4k so the car is dead under that lol I think the 2560 is to big for our little 1.6
Good news! I found a large vacuum port on the back of the intake manifold uncapped. The one underneath the coil harness clip. Not sure if this would've affected peak power, but at the very least, I've fixed a boost leak. The car runs much more smoothly.

I personally don't think it's too big. The lag is reasonable and leaves enough room to drive economically. It feels pretty similar to my old STI.
Are you using a boost solenoid? I'm still getting the spool up duty cycles dialed in, but the threshold seems to move down to about 3500 RPM.
