Exclamation Speedunio/Tuner Studio Problem

Hi guys,

I've recently purchased a Speeduino Core 4 PnP ECU for my low budget 1.6 turbo (daily). I installed the ECU, IAT and VTPS, Calibrated all the sensors and it fired right up with the mx5 base map that came on it. now obviously I cannot use that map with boost (but that's a whole other topic).

The problem I'm having is. The car was running and I was connected to the ECU via Tuner Studio & everything was working as it should, all the correct readings etc. Then I turned off the car and disconnected my laptop. When I went to start the car next it wouldn't start, So I launched Tuner Studio again and my MAP reading was jumping around the 120kpa mark (engine off) and the TPS was at 63% (with the throttle closed). So I tried to recalibrate the TPS and it read 90 closed and 90 open, but as I opened and closed the throttle the MAP value was raising and lowering (max of about 217kpa), and if I blow or suck the MAP line which goes to the ECU it raises and lowers the TPS value.

So I removed the ECU from the cars wiring harness to eliminate any potential wiring harness issues & reloaded tuner studio and the map value was still jumping around the 120kpa mark. I also tried reloading the original firmware and base map onto the ECU incase it was anything in the settings I had accidentally changed, But still have the same problem.

Does anyone have any idea what may be causing the problem?

I can only think something has happened to the ECU as even with it disconnected from the cars harness it doesn't read the correct MAP pressure? (Atmospheric pressure is only 100kpa)

I have messaged DIY-EFI which is where I bought the ECU from and am waiting for a response. Im also not slagging off the product or seller in any way. DIY-EFI have been very helpful to date. They even gave me a free upgrade to the Core 4!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I ran into the same issue from this month's update and found out that tunner studio reverts to the wrong board layout after the update so go into engine constants and change the board to DIY EFI core v4. That solved nearly everything for me. I have been actually using their PNP board since the end of this last summer and its been great. Just slight issues to expect from a developing software. Its actually this post that forced me to join the forum.

Hey!
Thanks for the reply. I have since spoken to James at DIY-EFI and he has kindly offered to send me out a new CORE 4 unit to see what the problem may be, as he has never seen the problem I have.

However you may be onto something with the board layout! I will try that this evening and get back to you with the outcome.

I understand its a developing product/software and have no issues with the product or DIY-EFI. James has been extremely helpful getting my car up and running to date, and I cant be more grateful 😁

Thanks again
-Kyle
