Noob looking for Piggyback
#22
I know this forum has been around forever, and most people love Vlad, but his response was not cool and I simply replied. I was unaware that the Miata has a limited vendor pool, and there are no piggybacks available for this model. Vlad could have said that but he chose to take it in another direction.

He said piggybacks suck, and you replied by making a (humorous) dig at him. He responded in good humor as well, then you called him a troll
edit: [my childish response redacted here] - thebeerbaron had a much more articulate and reasonable response

You know what, I think you did get some unwarranted attitude here initially. You came in here insistent on using a solution that doesn't really exist for the Miata - a tuneable piggyback. Instead of us figuring out what the hell you were talking about, you got dinged for wanting to use a solution (non-programmable signal-modifying box) that won't do what you want. But, having done little to no research, you stuck to your guns and kept digging yourself in deeper.
Personally though, I would have thrown you out of my house with the following:
This screams to me that you don't want to listen to anything other than what you want to hear. Which is not going to go over well with ... well, anyone. And an attitude of "I don't need to share that" when people are asking questions to try to help you...
Combine this with the wildly unrealistic goal of adding 50+ hp without adding a turbo... (at least, that's how I read that)
Unrealistic expectations, refusal to listen, generally poor communication, holding back pertinent information.... not the sort of customer I'd want.
Personally though, I would have thrown you out of my house with the following:
I do appreciate you looking to help and I do intend to add a turbo, but I do not find it necessary to share that, or any other mods I am doing, as I am solely asking about available piggyback as I know an ECU swap will not work with my goals.

Great - What specifically are you speaking about since only one moderator made a comment? Be a little more specific here? When my first post on this forum is greeted by a moderator telling me I am "poop" and not actually contributing to the thread, how am I off base there?

I'll let this thread die. You seem like the guy who asks question just to spark an argument.
(I also don't care how many of my post you downvote, you're still kind of an ***)

1) FM went away with thier voodoo box.
2) No other vendor makes a piggyback.
3) If you want to add a turbo the only option is a stand-alone ECU.
4) Call me to discuss as I have been tuning Miata's for years and would love to sell you a Megasquirt, and help you get up and running.

This mentality is more what I was speaking too. I just got back to this thread but it seems that @thebeerbaron already stated many of my points. Derek wont want to hear how you're upset at gains from just ECU swapping, or that you had all these plans and just didnt feel like sharing those with him.

I do not ask questions for the sake of asking questions...Burger Tuning makes a great piggyback (BMW platform), and I thought there would be a vendor like him over on the Miata platform, but my bad for assuming that which I have already mentioned.

Also, this old thread was revived by a forum member also throwing a short jab - If anyone followed up asking if I learned anything and changed directions, then this could have gone in another direction...or if they would have seen my other posts on the MS3, which is already wired up, maybe this would have spun in another direction.

Same with me! Your original answer was just not cool, and I have a short fuse for people who reply with short jabs with nothing of value to add. I am on many car forums and these people are all over the place, and frankly I don't want them replying to my posts - either add value or move on to the next post.

Captain O'Hagan : Neither was the goddamn schoolbus! You know, there was a time we'd take a guy like you out back and beat you with a hose; now you got your Goddamn unions.
