MS I vs LINK G4

MS I vs LINK G4
Can anybody tell me which is better to use, and which is easier? New to tuning
are you required to get new injectors for either? and if so what size
I am going to install the ECU to tune my car for better mpg before I throw a turbo or SC into it as well as get an idea of how to tune before going all the way down the road.
Also let me know if it is stupid to put in aftermarket ECU into stock motor...

I know lots of things, all of which you could know too. All you have to do is search this forum a bit, youre already in the right section, you just need to look in the sub-sections.
I will give you a little hint though. There is a reason that there are 3 threads in the Link sub section, and 4,500 threads in the Megasquirt sub-section.

What Rev said.
The G4 wipes the floor with a MS1, but that's unsurprising considering the price difference and age of the units.
MS3 or G4 would be a tougher call IMO, if you're tuning yourself then pick whichever you can get the best support for, if someone is tuning for you then pick whichever they are most comfortable using.

I have researched the forum a bit and the threads on the g4 i didn't find to be too helpful as there weren't many there unless i didn't look in the right place...
Anyway thank you guys for this information now I know that the G4 outclasses the MS I and this is very valuable to me. thank you
The reason why I asked is because I am getting a good deal on a G4 system but could buy the MS system for the same price. So therefore I will go with the Link system.
I have a gtx turbo that I will be installing after I get the pipes and stuff for it. I have the intercooler as well.
But would it be wise to install the system beforehand and have it mapped out?
My car is a 95 and the guy said he has the harness pnp for it.

Okay now I have a different dilemma...
What I originally thought was a G4 I no longer believe to be a G4 the guy says it is but it looks to me like a different model and definitely older than the g4 platform.
Can anybody identify this?

LMAO
Thats an old *** link. Nobody uses that **** anymore.
But seriously, even if it was a G4, you would be better off getting an MS2 or MS3, its very well documented here and there are lots of people that can help you get it working. If you are on a budget, it is the way to go.

What I am going to ask is can it be identified and if it works, which it does. I am getting this setup.
What problems can be forseen using this old *** setup?
The way I see it is if it can manage fuel and spark or what not why is it such a big deal to have the newest toys for a first time tune?

OK I appreciate the profanity and enthusiasm. Lol

As a part of this forum we have the company who actually designs and produces the Megasquirt, as well as 2 other members who build and sell them. For the Link, we have a section of the forums with 3 posts.
Good luck with that.

FM used to sell the Link. If it was as good as current offerings, they probably would still be selling it. The fact that they don't should tell you something.

I wish i got the megasquirt system and even though some may think that 300 more is justifiable for more options and better tuning, to me it doesn't mean anything. If I can save 300 and get something else that might 'kinda' work' I will.
I have a budget and this is just for fun to me. I am not trying to get the best turbo flying miata on the street if u know what i mean. I am just trying to tinker and have fun with it.
It is too bad that the forum here doesn't have much info on this old tech and I realize that its old **** and nobody uses it anymore. Hopefully I can get it to work for me.
I found the Flying Miata Manuals and Guides very very useful so I am not ashamed about my purchase.
If it worked at some point, it may work again

People also used to use rising rate fuel pressure regulators and 5th injectors.
Yes, it "worked" but it didnt work well.
Id sell the Link and find an MS.
I wouldnt even install the Link. When you do eventually give in and go to MS you will kick yourself for even bothering with the Link.

Anyway it is plug in play and its got the keypad and all the sensors. After I get it all running and then find out i need to switch to MS yeah that'll be f-ing painful but if i can get some boost from this ecu that is more than just a shitty stock psi turbo I think that would be an accomplishment.
like i said i don't need it to be ridiculously good, just better than normal HP.
now lets say I can't use the AC, and my engine is getting f-ed over cuz of the shitty ecu thats a different story... but i can't believe that FM would sell that bad of a system...
eh i can't even remember why i justified buying this ****. The guy made me give in saying that i can't find a pnp system for this good of a price anywhere esp with the contorller and sensors so UGHHH fking if i got ms3x u just use a laptop right? fakkkkk
well either way i can't afford the new MS. i coulda gotten the MS1 tho so... oh well. but from what i understood i would have had to splice all the wires together, not a biggie but idk what i'm talking about anymore. gonna tune this **** for months now prolly damnit..
