How do yall build a Target AFR map with the use of a dyno?
My plan was to start with my base map, and search for the best combo of AFR and Ignition that makes MBT. All while watching EGT's and Knock to maintain cool and safe cylinder conditions.
Ive got a 01' NB
Motorsport Electronics me221 standalone
CX racing T3/T04E 114kpa-150kpa
MAC boost solenoid
420cc injectors
Taped in a temporary EGT sensor into the manifold for tunning
Here is a base map that I built from the several different maps ive seen. (I am at altitude, ambient air pressure is at 81 kpa, anything 81+ is in boost)
Please let me know what feedback you have on my base map and your method of building/tuning your AFR map.
You should probably have anything in boost be between 12.0 - 11.0 (tapering down) rather than starting at 13.1 AFR and eventually tapering down to 12 after ~60 kPA in boost. Too lean according to most AFR Target tables, especially as 81+ kPA is boost for you.

The engine doesn't care whether you achieve 100kpa naturally aspirated at sea level or if you do it with 3 pounds of boost at 6000 ft elevation. Cylinder pressures will be almost identical. The only difference is going to be a very slight increase in intake air temp since the turbo is compressing the air a bit. That means target AFR and ignition advance for a given manifold pressure shouldn't be any different than a sea level tune.
How is using a dyno to find optimal AFR targets not beneficial? How do you know what AFR is most efficient for your engine? A steady state dyno and monitoring manifold pressure will tell you for certain.
