04 msm engine into 01 chassis, need to pass state inspection.
Besides getting the actual engine and catalytic converter in there, what else would i need? Does anyone know if i could just plug the msm engine harness into a 01 "body" harness and have it work? Are the fuel pumps and evap systems the same? Please halp i want to make a BRG MSM but idk how.
Things i know ill need
1) msm ecu with keys and ignition lock cylinder
2) msm engine harness
3)???

Nope. Connectors are different between the MSM harnesses and the NB2 harnesses that I have had in our shop. Also, there was a big change somewhere in 03. If you can read a wiring diagram, it is possible to re pin connectors and get it to work.
Also need to know what state.

I have not had many MSM harnesses to compare, but IIRC they use the 99/00 body and ECU connections and not the 01+ We have only used the 01+ harnesses for our race cars (unless I build one from scratch.) I think the connectors use the same style pins.
I put a 2005 harness in a 91 car to get it CARB legal in CA. I then plugged a 2001 ECU and immobilizer into that harness and it would not work. That is when I found out about the changes made in 2003.
I don't know GA emission laws. Hope it easier than CA.

The 01 ECU will be looking for VVT engine stuff and be tuned for it. The MSM has lots of oddball electrical and vacuum elements that will need to be controlled. I can't see how it would work.
