Anyone got COPs to work with 1.6 and EMB?
Hey,
I was wondering if anyone got COPs to work with a 1.6 and EMB. If you do have a working set up can you please list out what you have?
Thanks,
t.t.

Brain, it has something to do (IIRC) with voltage drop in the post-EMB ignition signal. You need some way to boost the trigger voltage (I think) back up to acceptable levels. It's fine for triggering the normal coils, but the Toyota coils need more apparently. If you bypass the EMB's ignition signal, and give control of the ignition back to the stock ECU only, the car starts up just fine. It's probably why POPSTOY was having all those issues.

Chris S. had the same problem with COPs on his EMU, and so did I when I had one. The EMU couldn't supply enough current (not voltage) to drive them.
Check out the "dwell reducer" circuit that's floating around. Putting that in between the EMx and the COPs should work, as it shifts the burden of supplying the drive power away from the EM.
