Ok it was like a de ja vu night. Raced the same mustang with the super charger, and he was saying he kept missing shifts. Then ended up 2nd to the same guy as last time, only differences were I got no bye and I didn't go red. We both broke out and I crossed the line .0066 before him, at least my top end technique is improving. Anyway, had a blast, went 99 in the eighth and 125 in the quarter and went quicker than ever (too quick) 11.46 off throttle even. They asked if I had done that earlier that night, I said I haven't gone that quick this year. They gave me crap in a joking way and were actually super nice about it.
Man I hope you didn't try to meet me there today Vlad. What a **** show, one of the first few cars exploded half way down the track. I got there around 3:45 and made my first pass at 8:24. Only one practice round before the left lane was totally trashed and closed for the night. 2nd pass was for closest to their dial in won. 11.547 on an 11.51 dial wasn't even close enough for 2nd place. I heard the car count maxed out and people were getting turned away.
Still had fun with a bunch of my friends and went 99 in the eighth and 126 in the quarter, fastest yet.

Welp, yesterday was the last day of Sacramento Raceway
I hope the POS real estate developers that pushed out the track and effectively killed it get wiped out in the recession, and suffocate in a well of feces.
I guess now we'll be visiting you on your home turf, Sonoma raceway, when we wanna hit the strip, go fast, and catch up with old friends
Alex will be texting you soon, he's ran a high 8 at 160, wants a mid-8 soon in that LS swapped BMW of his. I'll probably visit too, because I wanna see the little miata that could make more passes
Oh man, did you go? I was worried I would drive all that way and get turned away, plus the donut pit didn't exactly sound like my kind of event.
I think you put it just about right with the Gaffeling Newscumbag developers who did one of our favorite places in, big karma coming to those folks. "Gee... I wonder why there's so much street racing all of a sudden?"
I can't wait to see Alex's 8 second bimmer. Also happy to see you and fastiva, in fact you guys are welcome to stay the night after racing if it ends late. Only one guest bed, but we got room for thermarests and sleeping bags or something.
Brought the friggin whale to the drag strip. It sounds cool as hell, but man is it slow. Hopefully they hurry up with the hydrostatic cert on my bottles, this thing needs it bad.
All that being said, it drives beautifully and everyone seems to want the thing. Already been offered more than twice what I paid. Out in the first round, somehow I got lined up against... Freaking Claudius again
Same pic as my build thread.
I considered bringing the Miata, probably should have, but wanted to try the whale in stock form. I heard there is a new 11.60 limit for pre 06 cars without a cage, bell housing shield, driveshaft loops, ect... So maybe I need to turn it down a little bit, there is a rumor that they did it because of my car. But it's all rumors at this point, I haven't confirmed anything yet.

In Houston, faster than 7.00/11.00 (1/8th/1/4) is cage territory. It's frustrating but I understand why they do it. It's the reason my car became what it is, because I couldn't make it any faster and still run at my local track since i didn't have the safety stuff.
Curious, what does "turn it down a little bit" mean?
Yeah, I understand too. I need to confirm the eleven sixty number or see if it is just some BS. As I recall it was always 7.35, 11.50 (1/8, 1/4) but things do change. Interestingly it was 135mph, not sure about eighth.
As for turning it down. I figure half a degree across the top 3 timing rows, ought to keep me over 11.60. If I get too close then another half degree. Of course I could always target a psi or 2 less instead. Probably just try a half degree first.
On second thought, no idea what I will do, try it all, the true beauty of a standalone.
Which reminds me, I can't seem to find a megasquirt for the whale, not even used. Everyone says they are in stock, but they are all just drop shipping, and DIY doesn't even have a production date for them. I am leaning towards an EMU black as I don't need a Haltech. The Link is another option, I know some of us are fans. Really, more curious if anyone has anything to say about the EMU black, good/bad/only option but works ok, ect...
I got the clutch pivot ball swapped out just barely in time. Car is running great. We had a big oil down and didn't do elimination tonight Still had a fun time, beat up on my buddy with the hellcat the first 2 rounds, he is learning a new clutch. The final race was my friend's Integra that I helped him make a boosted beast, now he's quicker, on wrinkle walls tho.
Had a super fun time with all my friends! Racing... Not so good. To begin, I wasn't logging, because we're technically not supposed to on a money race. Was running great, lights all under a tenth, every pass between 11.73 and 11.87. I think I might have felt my boost solenoid fail on my last practice pass, but it was still 11.8, so I didn't think too much of it. Next pass was elimination, I dialed 11.79 and went 12.6... What?!?
I obviously wasn't thinking too clearly, because I went and did the exact same thing again, because I am obviously an idiot... Because 12.6 at 113 is exactly what I run on wastegate pressure. Didn't realize 'til I was looking at my time slips at home, dang, oh well. Maybe I should just dial 12.59 and leave the boost off for money races in the future. Still had fun, a friend sponsored the race, so it was fun to see him and his crew out. Thanks for the Racing Ali!
Had a fun night, although my boost solenoid wiring is clearly still screwed. Time to work on my crank and cam sensor wiring a bit too, wiring this weekend I guess. My solenoid seemed to work in 1st gear on the first pass, but intermittently after that. I shut it off and ran wastegate all night. Somehow still managed an 11.85 on my first pass. Broke out a 12.2 on a 12.60 dial, I am clueless with EBC not working.
Also made a little burnout 101 video to teach folks how to do a wet burnout.
Went a few rounds against the automatics at the bracket race today. Was out in "Pro ET" right away, took too much stripe. Did ok in "Sportsman" for a change. Boost solenoid still doesn't seem to work right, so I just drove it on wastegate. Had pretty good lights all day, ended one race away from money.
One of the guys noticed this giant hand sized moth there.
Didn't do so well on Wally day. Still had fun racing with my friends. I need to learn to stay in it across the finish line against 10 second cars. Had the worst light ever on my final round, must have been watching the wrong bulb.
Another fun evening at Sonoma. Still struggling with faster cars on the top end. Always a blast with all my friends there anyway. Finally got to keep my official Wednesday night track ambassador shirt, no I don't get anything but the shirt.
At least I got the bye so I didn't go out on the 1st round
