What pieces needed for turbo back exhaust?
Ok so I am ebay shopping right now and I'm to the point of looking for misc SS bends and tubing. I am going to need pieces from the turbo back. With the manifold I am going to fab up I plan to make the turbo as low as possible to get the straightest shot back that I can. With that in mind What bends will I need and how many of each? Also how much straight piping should I get. I think I am just going to run it straight back out the driver's side and cut an arch like rob has done on his. Also what muffler should I get that will give me a nice quiet sound at idle and cruise but a loader sound at WOT. I just don't want any fart can sound on my car.

I hardly used any straights at all- but I did have a cat, glasspack, flex pipe and muffler in the exhaust. So that formed all the straights. I think I only used one U - that made the turn back from the down pipe and the little bump up by the diff to get the muff tucked under the trunk pan. I'd definitely go with a muff that was straight thru flow for power. If you do go straight out the back you won't be able to run anything larger than a 14" can - and it'll be tight if you want it to look clean with the muff up high (tucked). I'm running a 13" can now. Vband is righteous.
btw- I highly recommend those poly exhaust hangers, they do wonders for controlling the movement- especially over the 17 yr old OE hangers.

yah i switched out to poly recently. not a huge difference since my car is an 01, but they're YELLOW!
If you do a stock-style muffler setup, use one shorter than 22" for the muffler body. mine's just too effin long. it hits the tiedown structure.

Not of the exhaust. I don't have a magnaflow- I've got a cheapie ebay turbo style muffler that sends the exhaust on a complete loop through the muffler- not ideal for power and flow. But it does sound good- just not loud by any means. About as loud as the stock exhaust on the Nissan/Infiniti v6s (fx, g35 coupe, Z).

Everything is 3" dia from the internal gate housing back. My downpipe is two pieces, the first off the wg housing is sched 40, then it goes mild steel down to the trans and then back at a 90°. That's right where the flex pipe is, then the cat, flange, 18" glass pack, small straight and bends by the diff, where it bends way up and back, flange and muff.
You can fit a 14" long can up in there, but it's VERY tight. To get to look good you need to focus on the area around the diff where it bumps up to meet the back side of the muff. My exhaust drops down about 1" too far at the diff (overly cautious) - and that made it even harder to get the exhaust back up into the car. You can see from the pics that I probably used less than a foot of straight pipe from the straight I purchased. Most of the straight peices came from the U bend legs.
