I bought Kraken's oil/water line kit because they worked perfectly on my old motor, and I like supporting small vendors.
but the mix housing/return ports appear to be significantly larger on the VVT motor. Contacted him on fb about it and he simply told me to buy new fittings and lines
ID of hose is 7.5mm, fittings are 10mm with a 12mm barb. I have them tied off to the side for now but I'll be switching to 50/50 mix soon and while the coolant is drained I'd like to take advantage of water cooling my turbo.
Is there any way to coerce these lines on without getting all new fittings and lines? I tried soapy water and removing material from the inside of the hose but theyre so stiff they still wont slide on.
There was a revision in late 2003 or something on the diameter of the metal fitting. Had to find out the hard way when the stock bypass hose gave up the ghost in mine.
I ran into a similar issue on my build. I'd have been better off not getting the Kraken plumbing kit as I used hardly of it.
The oil drain is 5/8, not the 3/4 Borg Warner recommends - ended up buying all this stuff a second time, in the correct size.
The oil feed is -4, I think. BW recommends -6 for long feed lines. I'm running the -4 for now but will probably change it out. Also, the AN adapter for the CRHA was missing an o-ring groove that I had to add on a lathe.
I used the water line banjo fittings used my own silicone hose to get the lengths and routing correct without the throttle body warmer.
The low mount manifold and 3" exhaust are such a nice, well-fitting product that I'd buy again in a heartbeat, but the plumbing stuff was a little disappointing.
I experienced a thought while drinking silly juice the other day...
What if i ran the oil warmer line to one side of my turbo and the other side to the smaller port on the mixing manifold? The lower port pictured is smaller. My only concern is two fixtures coming from such a small line, but it would still be correct pathing for coolant. Or am i way off base?
