Turbo Fail

in my opinion seeing a WB probe wire melt does not necessarily mean EGTs were too hot. a small exhaust leak at the the turbo/ manifold or down-pipe could easily burn insulated wires like a egt probe. you had a probe, so what temps where you seeing? sustained? spike? cruising on the highway II sometimes see temps as high as 1600+ but on the track it runs cooler, around 1450 is around the I've noticed. If I recall, over 1800 is getting dangerous.

Got apart today and ***** were falling out as i took apart. One of the bearings failed as seen above. So these cannot be rebuilt? Does anyone sell the bearing replacement? it looks like a small cylinder with bearing and could be easily replaced. I cannot find any online. If yall know any anyplace that sells this would appreciate it!

about rebuilding it, official Garrett statement is that their ball bearing turbos are not rebuildable, and you need to buy a new CHRA (center section with both wheels attached)..
Costs $400 if you mail back your broken core for credit.
